After receiving a letter confirming the cancellation, Sky called last night and offered us the 50% deal again for another 12 months but without the fixed term contract.0

Every retention TV deal I have without HD has been without a contract. Most who posted deals in this thread have said the same. They know you are very unlikely to cancel with such a discount and some will be put off by the new contract so no point in one really.0 -
Yeah I had a 12 month discount with no contract including HD, although they didn't believe me at first when I went to cancel 8 months into it.0

i have paid half price for the last 5 years and like has been said never been tied to a contract, infact, if i wanted to add anything, i also got that at half price as well.
i cancelled last week, got offered 25 per cent off, which i turned down. Got my letter yesterday.
i have half price on everything, hd, multi room, sports and the dearest entertainment package. been with sky for over 15 years but will leave if i dont get my normal deal.
their charges are a rip off as they well know and anyone who pays full price needs to give themselves a shake.0 -
Just had my call from Sky 6 days after cancelling and the best they offered was 35% off for 12 months with no contract. Again said if they upped it to 50% I was in but the answer was no, so we left it there. Not expecting anything now until the cancellation dates is passed.0

Exactly the same with me. Must be the party line for current cancellations.0 -
Me too... Just said no and will await switch off next week. Have accepted their phone and broadband offer (free bb for a year with a guaranteed 2 years if needed) for £15.40.
Will have the tv back if they offer me 50% or better...0 -

You can do better than that if you switch to EE. While EE's BB doesn't have great reviews, I have found Sky's BB, lately, to be a bit iffy.
My BB switches to EE from Sky on the 7th of July - the variety pack goes on 3rd July and I doubt I'll be convinced to stay, no matter what they offer me.0 -
Hi all,
I've had sky for just under 12 months thanks to Martins 50% off code.
I only have the phone line as it's compulsory (no phone connected), I have standard broadband as I am not in a fibre enabled area, and the full tv package.
I only have a large tv package due to the 50% off code, on reviewing the channels I need the only compulsory ones are,
CBeebies - freeview
Nickelodeon
Boomerang
Comedy Central
It looks like the variety bundle without without sports and movies would best suit my needs.
I made my first call to Sky last night to test the water and was offered the family bundle at full price, reduced line rental of £9.99 and half price broadband for a year.
It looks like Talk Talk may be about to get my business.

Thanks for all the tips. Our sky service was turned off on Saturday afternoon and by Saturday night I had the come back to sky and get 50% off tv for 12 months message on the sky account. I left it until today to contact them just in case the weekend staff were not able to help. They did confirm it would be 50% off for 12 months variety package plus sky sports at £24.50. They avoided answering directly that it would increase in September and said customer services would inform me of any changes to the subscription but it would be 50% off any increase.
I could not get them to budge on the new box at all though, even when I explained one of the reasons for cancelling in the first place was the fact we had an old box which was starting to play up a bit and we felt we were not getting a fair deal without access to the full anytime tv service. They could only offer 50% off tv with a new box for £199 plus £60 installation or 25% off tv with free box and installation.
I turned all the offers down and to be honest the freeview tv channels we have aren't too bad. We will just look at getting a Humax PVR box which will allow us to pause, record, rewind etc which is probably what we are missing the most plus buy some secondhand dvds of the childrens favourites too. It's the first time we've actually gone ahead and stopped Sky completely, it hasn't worked out but at least after the initial cost of a Humax box we will be saving money each month.0
