what's "spam" about it? Yes, it is unsolicited advertising, but appears to be a legit SKY retailer.

The point I was trying to make, was that it was probably more than co-incidence, that it came in on the SAME DAY as my tv got discontinued.

I wouldn't have mentioned / posted it on here otherwise.

They are definintly not SKY authorised and I would edit your post to make others aware not to contact them, they spam people with nuisance texts..otherwise I think your post should definitely be edited by an admin..

Wow just had quite negative Sky conversation, I called Sky after being offered £45 all in (60%off everything) for our old package last week, I was at work so arranged for the guy to call me back on Sat but he never rang. So rang tonight, told the guy the story, he almost accused me of lying, said that was a win back call and can only hold the offer that day something to do with he end of the month budget. After a bit of a conversation about channels -Sky F1 is now part of sports (I don't need sports) he said best he could do was £50
a month, thats 50% of TV only..but his attitude sucked he was probably tired of people haggling. So I said ok we will sign for Virgin then, he said fine..
LOL point is we genuinely are interested in Virgin as I want the high speed, but shocked thats the first real arsey Sky Rep I spoke to..jeez after that I don't want to be with them despite the deal.
Forgot to mention we are currently a few weeks after cut-off and enjoying freesat with Netflix..

You may well be right, but, it was posted in good faith to highlight the fact that it seemed EXTREMELY co-incidental I got the text the day my service ceased.

Helped though when I told SKY that I got it - hence why I got the deal I did.

Yea I know I was just saying, I'm sure they are one of the very nasty companies with spam. They pay for your details from Sky thats how they know.

Glad you got a deal from Sky tho, don't think it has to do with the TPS text, more random, I spoke to them again this eve as just noticed I have a 50% off letter and best they would do was £64 a month for everything..as they letter doesn't cover HD..spent nearly an hour talking to different rep's and so fed up with them now, sod Sky if thats all they will offer after being with them for 15 years..I'm obviously marked down as "bluffer -no deals"

    So signing up to Virgin..:)
  • a final update to my earlier post...

Contract due to expire 7th June

7th May Rang Sky to give 30 days notice of Cancellation of Phone, Broadband and TV. Politely turned down a 10% discount on TV for further 12 months. On the phone for 15 minutes or so but firmly and politely explained that I needed to save money and had no problem going back to freeview and relying on my mobile for internet.

8th May Rang Sky to say I'd found a good Broadband deal with EE (unlimited BB for £2 a month, £132 line rental up front and £120 amazon voucher) and could I have a MAC code. They explained they couldnt give a MAC code because my account had notice of cancellation on it but they'd put me on hold and see if if they could match EE's offer. Came back a few minutes later and offered Free Broadband for 12 months and a £1.40 discount on Line Rental. To save the hassle of changing providers I accepted that, re-signed for BB and left my TV Cancelled.

9th May Received an (obviously belated) email off sky saying sorry you're leaving our Broadband if you stay we'll give you free line rental for 12 months. Rang sky to complain that this was a better deal than the one I'd been offered yesterday and she said no problem we'll apply that to the account too! So now got Free Broadband and Free Line Rental for 12 months. My Monthly charge is just the £2.50 supplement they charge for having Broadband without TV. Obviously this will be removed if I take TV again.

7th June Tv Package expired. Could still receive freesat channels through my sky dish and signed up to a months free Neflix.

9th June Received a letter through the post offering 50% discount on Tv Package.

10th June Called Sky to say I'd received the 50% offer and was tempted but a friend had been given 60% discount and I'd definitely sign up if they could do that. Put on old for a minute then they came back and gave me the 60%

Final package I ended up with is Line Rental, Talk Weekends, Unlimited Broadband, Family TV Pack, Sports, Movies and HD for £30.05 a month. Very happy with that and hope this post helps a few others to get good deals.

See you in 12 months

As predicted, my TV has been switched off just under 1 month and the 'come back to us for 50% off TV and BB (not fibre that I still have from them)' letter was waiting on the mat yesterday.

Had they offered me that at the time of cancellation I probably would have taken it up. But as I have not missed it after a month, I am not exactly rushing to phone them up and take this offer.

Exactly the same as me. Mine went off 3 weeks ago and I had the same letter yesterday. I also received an email about it today.

Just like you, I've not really missed it so am quite happy to carry on without if it's not a deal to suit me.

As Sky Sports customers (which I was) will soon be able to get 2 years free broadband, I may give them a call at some point to see if they can offer a discount on the fibre instead!

Outbound offers are not available on inbound most of the time. eg 60% is an outbound "closer" offer as-in take it or miss-out. On inbound 50% off is the best offer.

These will be less after the end of June, too. Just like the 75% ended in April.

Good luck with Virgin. The broadband is faster which might be a reason to stay with them but do not expect them to chase you with offers either.
