well cancelled our sky on thursday last week and so far have only received a letter to say the cut off date. the guy I spoke to to cancel wasn't interested that we were cancelling and just put it straight through, I am on maternity leave at the minute and told him thats why we were cancelling as it was a luxury. We have the full tv package with sports movies and hd. (phone and bb with bt). Looking through this forum i can see that the resounding answer is to sit tight and wait but find it strange that they didn't even try to convince us to stay.

have there been any instances where people haven't been made an offer at all once cancelling? Do I call back- not really sure what to say….my partner is not happy at all as he's going to lose the rugby but thinking we'll sign up to a months netflix for free but nervous now that we won't be offered anything

Whatever you do don't let them cut off the phone line as it's a real pain to get it reinstated as hey have go through BT apparently which is then a 14 day turnaround and £20 cost. Obv this leaves you without phone and bb for two weeks - I'm speaking from experience here.
Re the tv, our tv was cut off last week and within 48 hours a 50% off offer appeared on my account after it had been showing the 'unable to access' message. So, my advice would be to call back and cancel the phone cancellation if they'll offer you a deal, if not phone plusnet or an other to transfer your bb and phone and allow your tv service to lapse - then allow them to win you back for the tv
  • SKY JUST GAVE ME 33% OFF MY BILL... AND I GET THAT DISCOUNT FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS .... YES 5 YEARS .... I am tied in for the next 12 months only which is not an issue for me.

If i change my package i will get 33% off what ever package i choose.

I think thats quite good and it stops me constantly calling up to haggle with them to be honest.

Forgive my scepticism but, until I see other reports like this, I find it hard to believe that Sky would provide such a long and guaranteed period of discount.

That text was SPAM, why did you link to it here?

what's "spam" about it? Yes, it is unsolicited advertising, but appears to be a legit SKY retailer.

The point I was trying to make, was that it was probably more than co-incidence, that it came in on the SAME DAY as my tv got discontinued.

I wouldn't have mentioned / posted it on here otherwise.

Same here - gonna let it ride a few months before I decide if I need it or not. Only thing I miss is sky + but will be streaming in the meantime so hopefully it won't make a difference

    Hi everyone,
my sky package (TV, movies, sports, HD, BB, Weekend phone, line rental) was up for renewal (paying £90 pm) rang to haggle and i was offered the same package for £68, which I thought was reasonable. It included BB free + sports for 2 years . But just noticed that sky sports 5 will be introduced with BB and feel that I have been a bit too quick to say yes.
My question is was I right in thinking that it was a reasonable offer?

Depends on your definition of 'reasonable'. You clearly felt it was as you accepted it so thats the main thing.

    Fair play,

After receiving an email saying that I have BB+ Sports for 2 years I felt great but now after seeing that with the intro of Sky sports 5 you get BB free with Sports package. I think I have gone from thinking it was reasonable to.....average

BB is free on all contracts with a TV package now anyway for new customers so they should be able to throw that in as a retention deal.
