If someone has any experience of haggling when returnign to Sky after a year I'd really appreciate it..
A year after you cancelled, no "haggling" will be required as you'll be considered a "new" customer and be entitled to new customer deals and equipment. Do be aware that most of these deals last for about six months (or less) and you'll be tied into a new minimum term.

I have just spoken to Virgin Retentions
(been with Virgin for 16 years)

    I have been paying £59.14
    20MB BB
    XL TV
    XL phone
    phone line
    V+ box
    Super hub

Our V+ box has given up after many years of lots of use... I have just rung retentions to see what they could offer.

    50MB BB
    Tivo Box
    Super Hub 2
M+ TV (XL was to much)
    XL phone

12 month contract. £33 pm plus 144 for line rental up front (seems to have gone up recently from £128). Tivo box and Hub will be sent out free of charge.

Thought might have been able to get monthly contract below £30 but she wasn`t budging... she is ringing me back tomorrow..

Do you think this seems reasonable? I am rubbish at this sort of thing and have never negotiated before.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I wonder if you could help with number Sky are phoning you from. We gave a month's notice to sky a week ago and since then have had a lot of calls from 0800 9159081.

Answered it Sunday and they wanted account details which wouldn't give them without proof of who they were, so they put phone down.

Sky say it's not them but the Internet says it is.

So just wondering is this the number they have called you from?

    Thanks

Called Sky on Monday and gave them my one month's notice. I have had unlimited BB (not fibre optic) and the variety pack. Been paying £45 a month - only been with them for a 18 months.

They dropped the price to £28, I refused.

Since then, they have emailed me and offered 12mths unlimited BB with free line-rental. Of course, I need to call them back to find out home much the BB costs - which is something I won't be doing for at least a couple of weeks.

Not true. I got a postcard in the post today offering 50% off Sky TV & Fibre Optic.. the last few offers had just been for TV. I called up and managed to get 60% off TV, 50% off fibre, and free house move/installation/HD box + £25 credit to first bill.

So I get the Family Pack, Fibre optic, line rental, Sky+ HD box etc for £36/month which isn't bad for not having had an account with Sky for a year!

    :)

In other words, you got a "new customer" deal, just as I said. You didn't have to haggle, just as I said. You are also tied into a new minimum term, just as I said. :T

Sky are a bit stupid I think. Even though I cancelled my TV and my shut off date was 31st May, it's still on. I called them and they said someone moved the date back to the end of June for no particular reason. She said I won't be charged ( even though my account says I will be).

This may be a mistake, or it could simply be Sky trying to entice you to stay by leaving your services on a little longer.

To be sure of not being charged I would write them a letter of complaint informing them that your services are still on and that your account still shows you will continue to be charged.

Have you cancelled the Direct Debit?

    Do not do this.

Check on mysky for credits on your next bill and/or contact them again if you get charged for the additional month. They did the same for me but I could see that next months bill had a credit due to cover the additional month.

That was rather why I was asking if the OP had done this already, although (unlike other payment disputes) cancelling a DD on termination of services is usually a wise move.

That's a little late if the OP does not have the funds available to cover the bill.

I agree it would be wise for the OP to check any such credit has been applied before making a written complaint.
