After being off for about three months I finally had the call today (although had three flyers in the post and the banner on my online login all offering 50% off previously).... So anyway my call today goes straight in and offers 60% off for 12 months and a £50 bill credit to start me off.... No contact. That was for sports, movies and ent extra. Happy with that.

I phoned cancellations/retentions today on behalf of my mother in law. She has been with Sky for 20 years and has an old dodgy non hd sky+ box. At the moment she is paying £62 a month for movies, sports etc and all that they offered was to knock it down to £53 a month and give her a new HD box,,,,

I'm sure they can do better, so I've left it with them and they are going to ring me back with the best deal they could offer...

What would be a reasonable offer do you think?

I think you'll be doing quite well if they even bother calling back.... more likely is you'll hear nothing and they will hope you forget and carry on paying full price.

I think without cancelling or at least making them think you will cancel, the offer you got is about the best you will get.

How long before they contact you with an offer? If they don't I'm not too fussed. Probably should make more use of my smart TV and save money in the process!

I got some (missed) phone calls about a week after it switched off. They havent called back since.

Am not losing any sleep though as we only had the TV package as it was 50% off so if they dont offer it to me on that again its no loss. Catch up, films, etc. are easily handled by the chromecast.

    Cancelled my Sky TV Saturday.
Had a call from the win back team today offering 35% which i declined.

Am i likely to get another call before my Sky switches off at the end of the month?

What are peoples experience on number of calls before the switch off date?

I have had three missed calls from SKY since the 16th May .I did tell them when I gave notice that I was installing a TV aerial . I did that today and have TV in 4 rooms now plus I have the UK and Irish channels .I wont be able to record .SKY will have to come up with a great deal for me to stay.

I cancelled my subscription just over a year ago, and in this time have had regular offers sent to me in the post, most recently 50% off Sky TV, but nothing on broadband/phone.

I'm now moving house and interested in getting Sky again, but want the best deal possible. In the past few year's I've had 75% off with Sky, 50% off, and also 6 months free.

I called a few times today and each time got a different deal, but the best offered was:
    60% off Sky TV
Fibre optic at £7.50 for 6 months, then full price after
    Standard line rental
    £25 credit

This averaged out at around £39 a month for Family bundle, Fibre Optic, and line rental. I figured out that with the current Quidco offer of £125 cashback, and a £125 credit from Sky for new customers, the price also averages out to something similar.

So I don't think I've been offered that great a deal from Sky, but I was wondering if anyone can advise me on how I can get a better deal? I haven't been a customer for a while, so it's not likely they're calling me every couple of days with an offer.

If someone has any experience of haggling when returnign to Sky after a year I'd really appreciate it..
  • Hiya.

I've had sky for over a decade now and have the full TV shebang which totals about £75.

I'm thinking of calling them up and going through the cancellation process with the hope of them calling me back before the cut off day with a better offer.

Is this particularly realistic on my part? What sort of things should I be telling the cancellation department when I call to cancel?

*I couldn't go through with really cancelling as the kids would go crazy without their fix of the various kids channels.

    Thanks all.

Sky may well offer you a nominal discount to stay, but the overwhelming message pervading this whole thread is that the best deals are only offered to those who cancel and mean it.

If, as it seems, you are not prepared to cancel fully then Sky will just call your bluff and let you call them to re-activate your service before the cut-off date.
