Sky know that of so many long time customers X amount who threaten to cancel come back or pull out. Hence no offers for them.
There are offers available for every customer who cancels. How you can confidently say it's such an exact science that Sky can tell who will cancel completely and who will return is beyond me.

Sky know this because Sky has collected the data over many many years and many many customers.
I'm afraid this just seems like your earlier assertion that Sky monitor these forums in an attempt to identify posters and so deny them a discount…

    Not very convincing..

It is the initial contact people that have no discretion. If there is offer for 6 months free on your account then they can offer that and probably will if you want to cancel. But if no offer is on your account there is no point spouting "X years loyality" or "put me through to your manager" to them. just cancel "politely" and see what happens.

Ah yes we are both saying the same thing; I'd slightly mis-read your initial post; my apologies.

Apologies if this has been answered already:

I am currently in my cancellation period, and noticed the 50% offer in Martin's email. This is obviously for new customers so I can't use it, but is there any reason why I can't use it in my wife's name (who obviously lives with me)?

If this does work, would it be ok to order in my wife's name before the account in my name is actually cancelled? It seems the 50% off code has to be used by 3rd June, whereas my cancellation will take effect from late June.

    Thanks in advance

You can't order it in your wife's name as the address is the same.

If I put all the details in online, will it automatically not allow it?

If the system does allow it, could they cancel the order or increase the price later on?

For the sake of argument, how would it work for non-family members that share a house?! Is it that once an address is used, it can't be used again as a new customer for a year, regardless of who lives there?

The Sky subscription is for your household. In order to get new customer deals, therefore, you'd need to fraudulently claim that not only are you cancelling but you've moved out of that address and someone else (your wife, son, daughter, house sharer etc) had moved in. Obviously a different bank account/credit card would also be required for payment.

I wouldn't recommend this course of action.

Our 75% off call came from a Sky office in Derby? STD 01332, watch out for those ones.

shame that number is a reply only .. guess I will need to answer the derby call next time

Finally going to face ringing up Virgin and cancelling if they don't reduce the price.
Just can't afford to be paying £115 per month anymore.
Currently we have 2 x regular virgin boxes and a V+ box. We have the sports and what was the XL package for TV, broadband and phone.

Does anyone have similar and what are you paying?
If they wont budge on price, I will see out the cancellation and move to Sky.

I had my sky service cut off at the start of the month but have not had any phone calls like last year and when i check online it says it cannot display the offers and to call them.

has anyone had any success by calling them in this situation or should i sit tight?

IMHO you should sit tight... I was in the exact same situation as you and was worried then all of a sudden one day the banner on their website changed to offer 50% off and I received three 50% off mailings from them in a month.
