  • I've been a Sky customer for 14 years. I requested to cancel and was offered no deal and my cancellation was processed immediately. So the cancellation threat is not always a winner.

Threats dont work as they are wise to that. You need to actually let the cancellation go through.

Of course, they could always call your bluff so you really have to be prepared to have it switched off :)
  • Hi Guys,

chatted to the online rep today,

explained I'm a new customer and haven't had sky for a few years.
Explained that I noticed all the good offers that have been dished out on moneysupermarket.com

They gave me 50% discount on the full package.

    Have fun Haggling

I used the livechat on the website, responding to the "come back 50%" offer.

I previously paid £70pm, for Multiscreen, Sky+ Subscription,+HD Pack, Variety with Sports. First offer was £43.50 (as no discount on HD and multiroom). He then came down to £38.01. This is just 48p better than I was offered 5 days after giving notice.. but he wouldnt come down further.

I decided to scrap the multiroom, so price was then £26.85. He said I could add that back at any time.

But, I do have a new contract, not that it matters. He charged £5 for reactivation, refundable with first DDM payment. We then had a bit of a tussle over the payments, they are £43.33 on 26 May (26th being my old payment day), then 11 x £26.85. Contract ends 2nd May.

Quite pleased though, and my husband is relieved he won't be losing his sport.

One question, he said the second box would no longer work, I have vague memory of cancelling one before, and being able to use it, but it having to be on the same channel as the primary box. Please could someone confirm which is right?

And thanks to all on this forum for sharing your experiences, I would never have tried this without all your info.

You will be able to use it for viewing all free to view channels but will not be able to record or pause on it or to watch anything already recorded onto it except for possibly free to view recordings. It has nothing to do with your Primary box.

    Hello

After more than 10 years of paying top prices for Sky I have cancelled and Sky will be switched off on Monday 5. If I am offered the win back deal I will take it but otherwise will let the service go as can't justify £67 per month. My question is will we lose all the content recorded on the planner if I go through with the cancellation? If I rejoin will it still be there? If it's going to be lost guess we better spend the weekend in from of the TV!

    Thank you for advice

The content will still be there but you wont be able to access it without a subscription TV package.

Ok not to happy about this, I got a come back to Sky offer in Jan when I logged into my Sky, it didn't tell me what offer but I phoned up, they said I could get 50% discount, great I thought, I enquired how long I'd have this offer, 12 months I was told. I phoned up just now to cancel as we never watch Sky only to be told I am stuck in contract again. I asked why this was never mentioned and got told "Ah you would of been told" I am 100% sure it was never mentioned. Is this the norm? Is it even legal?

I had very very similar! I got phoned up last year and they offered me the HD channels for free for 12 months. I have now cancelled sky because of their rocketing prices and moved to Virgin. I got letters from Sky saying sorry that I was leaving and the dates my services would be cancelled. Then I got a phone call from them saying that I still had to pay for another 9 months because I had taken out a further 12 month contract! I was never told this either. I was told that a letter had been sent! They have even called me to complete a customer satisfaction survey and I told them what I thought of them!!

Yes the guy said I was still in contract for HD what ever that means. So what's happening now then? I am sure I was never told anything about this being another contract or I would not of signed up.
