Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

Hello all,
I'm looking for a bit of help...
I'm currently on the Sky original tv package with BB and phone paying the standard £21.50 for tv, £7.50 for BB and paid upfront for line rental £119.40.
My contract runs out on 1st June and I'm keen to secure a discount. I've been reading the last months worth of posts and it seems a 50% could be on if I play my cards right. I wanted to ask if the discount people have been getting is for same package they were on previously or do you get a chance to upgrade? Ideally I'd like family package to get HD.
Should I look to cancel everything or just TV? I'm a bit worried i'll be without the internet for a while after my contract has ended. Has anyone gone through the process of getting the internet reactivated, would love to know how long it takes?
Thanks in advance for your help.0 -
Sky TV, broadband and phone contract due to end on 1st May. I phoned today to ask for my MAC code so that I can give this to my new Broadband supplier, when I decided which one to go with. I was told my new supplier would sort it out. They also questioned my reason for leaving I said it was too expensive, they said that if I phoned back the day after my contract ran out I could get 50% off my package. They said the TV could be switched on straight away but it could take 1-2 weeks to reinstate my Broadband.0

Services due to end today (can't check because I'm at work) - just logged in to my Sky account and have the 50% discount offer.0

Has anyone managed a win-back deal that includes HD and Multiroom without a contract extension?
I'm told that HD = new 12 month contractNo good as we're moving soon...

Yeah that seems to be a new policy. I was told that recently too but last time I rejoined with HD there was no contract.0

Win!
Started a chat with the win-back team online, got offered the "standard" 50% off. I asked if that included HD and MR and he said no, a HD pack would initiate a new 12 month contract.
I said a new contract was a deal-breaker and that I'd seen/heard of better deals elsewhere so he'd need to try harder.
He went away again and came back with a deal of 60% off for 12 months, no contract, and the HD and MR packs included.
All told, I'm getting the full package for £41.30 for 12 months - £2 a month cheaper than I was paying last year on the MSE deal :T0 -
Excellent thread - and thanks to everyone offering their help
Just to be clear guys, before I call them. Do you have to cancell everything from them to hopefully eventually get the 50% offer ? Or can you just cancek the TV package ? I dont want the hassle of losing broadband if possible, but are the bigger offers only for people leaving them completely?
Also , can you still get more than one offer ? In the past I had a discount on broadband plus TV (and mayeb even phone !)
Thanks.0 -
I have cancelled the TV only (kept phone and bb) the past 2 years and each time had the TV turned back on at 50% off.0

I got free B/B for 12 month contract when i asked for my MAC code as Plusnet were offering cheaper. TV was off for about 4 blissful months before 75% offer came in.
TV will probably have to be off for the best discount, B/B just threaten to leave (possibly)0 -
In the process of cancelling the lot except for broadband/phone (I'm a former O2 customer).
They offered me £20.40 per month for line rental and unlimited broadband (£5 discount per month on broadband) for 18 months. I took them up on that as it's about as cheap as anyone else can do it for and it saves moving elsewhere.
Apparently they've had to raise a CRS or something as the £5 discount gave an error message, but I'll get it. So I'm happy with that.0
