So after some confusion and frustration I got a call back today and got a further discount! I now have phone, broadband, multi room and TV (entertainment extra plus, movies, sports and all HD channels) for £20 less a month than I was paying previously without the multi room!0

Hi,
I want to cancel Sky TV (currently have sports, movies and entertainment) for the summer as I cant see me watching it much for the next 3 months.
However I want to still watch the World Cup in HD and to be able to still use Sky+ for the usual BBC, ITV, C4 etc shows. Do you need a Sky subscription to watch the BBC's, ITV's in HD?0 -

BBC and ITV HD is available without a Sky sub. Just remember that you will not be able to use the Sky+ features to record, pause etc if you cancel.0 -
Hi all,
Hopefully you can help me. I've been with Sky for around 5 years and whilst in reality I would stay with them, I know it's been pretty easy in the past to get a temporary retention offer from them.
I have the Variety + HD pack, paying £34.75 a month, plus £7.50 Broadband and Sky Line Rental. Currently Line Rental is free as moving over from BT they offered it for no cost for 12 months.
I was pretty annoyed to find out today that the TV pack has the exact same channels for new customers, called the Family Pack. It's £32 instead of £34.75. The only thing they could explain as a difference was that Sky F1 HD wasn't included-I don't care as I never watch this.
So I've spent a while on the phone with the cancellations team, I was getting quite annoyed by the guy who said Sky couldn't inform customers of the changes as there are 'so many customers', whereas in reality I'm inadvertently paying £2.75 a month more for no reason besides F1 that I don't care about.
The only offer made after loads of 'looks on the system' was taking my Broadband down to £1.99 a month for 12 months, saving around £5.50. He offered 10% saving on my TV for 6 months, equating to circa £3.40 and tried to claim that me moving to the Family Pack was a 'saving' too.
He wasn't the sharpest tool in the box and didn't have a good case to stay at all, so I was left frustrated and proceeded to cancel.
Is it worth calling back, speaking to someone else and explaining my frustration in the hope they'll offer me something worthwhile? Ideally I was after 6 months of half price TV or at least 25% off for that period, which they've offered many times before. It doesn't help their case that the Broadband was down in my home for almost 2 weeks recently, leading to a lot of wasted time in addition to my annoyance about their packages changing and me wasting a bit of money.
Anyone else got a good retention deal very recently?0 -
Phone them up again and cancel.
Wait less than 48hrs for the winback team to call you and ask if 'there is anything they can do' then explain the situation and see what they say.0 -
I cancelled our TV package (don't have phone or bb with them) costing £70pm on 26th March. I had a call on the 31st, offering reduction to £54 first, then £38. I didn't take it, for which I am rather kicking myself. I was amazed to get a call just 5 days after giving notice to cancel, but of course it was end of the month and end of the quarter, so perhaps they had targets to meet. I am going to wait until it goes off on 27th April, before I even consider contacting them, but it will be interesting to see if you get a call in a week or so. I'd wait a while before calling them.0

thank you, I had no idea it actually wasn't a legitimate way, I will keep my skye package (haggled over as learnt through this site)
Many thanks0 -
Finally managed to put my notice in for my Sky TV package. Even after telling they guy I wanted to cancel to save money, he still tried to get me to upgrade to the Family Bundle for more money!
I actually am trying to reduce my outgoings, so would comfortably go through with cancellation, however, if they were to offer a half decent deal with a shiny new HD box to replace my old white one, I would probably stay to keep my girlfriend happy!
And although it's not TV related, has anyone had success of getting the the fibre broadband on a 12 month minimum term? I'm currently in rented accomodation with a 12 month tenancy that has just re-started so don't want to commit to something that is 6 months over the time I may be living here.0 -
You can move the broadband to a new address free of charge.0
