The best deals are offered after cancellation, not during the notice period.
Just had a look & although i can't make changes due to my account being inactive, all the marketing boxes are ticked.
I'm guessing that because i haven't been disconnected yet, they are waiting to see if they can call my bluff?
I did get a 25% offer while i was on the phone trying to cancel, before they did actually take my 31 days notice to cancel Sky TV. But have had no phonecalls for offers since.
I guess i shall wait & see.0 -
My sky was cut off on Saturday. Called on Sunday saying I'd got a letter offering 75% off like the hotukdeals link said to do.
The guy on the phone put me on hold then came back a few minutes later saying they hadn't sent me anything and there was no 75% off offer on just now.
I have just got a jobsworth or have I no chance of getting the 75%? When i log into mysky it offers me 50% off but if others are getting the 75% obviously i'd rather get that.0 -

if they don't offer it just put the phone down and try again, they are supposed to be customer specific but it does depend on who you get on the call.
On the marketing preferences we have had ours set for years but never got a call once the cancelation was in, had to call them myself so keep trying, don't worry about knock backs. Good luck.0 -

If you were cut off on Saturday and rang on the Sunday, he would have known it was impossible for you to have had a post cut off letter. That could explain it. Perhaps we need to allow time for the letter to have arrived!
Also I reckon I had my phone call, a mere 5 days after ringing to cancel, because it happened to be end of the month. These guys probably have targets to meet. So... perhaps, if you really want/need to call them, wait till the last couple of days of the month? It was the end of the quarter too.0 -
I called Sky to cancel last week (as a lot of people have already mentioned, the MSE deal came to an end so the price ramped up).
Had a call on Monday evening and after 20 minutes profiling my viewing habits, only to find we watch something from every mix, the chap came back with a price of £52 (about a fiver more than the MSE deal). I said I'd think about it and that was that.
Second call last night, told the chap I'd already done the profiling thing and that he didn't need to waste either of our time (politely of course) - he was cool with that. After a bit of an informal chat he put me on hold to "speak to his manager" and came back with the same offer (£52, full package, HD + Multi Room). I politely declined again and said the least they can do is keep the same price as last year.
The hang up seems to be around HD+MR which they are reluctant to discount for some reason. He gave me a bit of a hard sell saying "I'm not on commission..." and "I think you should take this offer...you won't get better" so again I said "thanks but no thanks".
So the wait continues. 4 days since cancellation, 2 calls already, they just need to improve their price instead of coming back to me with the same price :rotfl:
I can't imagine it's very cost efficient to keep calling customers, speaking for 20 minutes and being told "no" - rinse and repeat ad nauseum and their cost to serve must be huge (yes I know they are a very wealthy company, but the Business Analyst in me says "inefficient" :cool:0 -
I cancelled last week too. Got a call back on Saturday evening! With the 35% deal and HD for 2.50. I declined again very politely and was told this would be the last communication! Lets see what happens0

Got a call today from Sky asking why I cancelled. Said because there's no football on in the summer, he said he totally understood and that was that. No offers but then I probably wouldn't take any offers before August anyway.0

Called back today and was offered 60% off. Took that cause it was less than I was paying last year and it keeps the girlfriend happy.0
