I cancelled on the 26th, we pay £70 for our TV package. Had a call today, a mere 5 days later, offering the same for £54, then dropped to £38. I said I would like to discuss with my husband and got pressured with the "this offer is point of call only", so I declined. I hope I haven't made a mistake.

Some parts of the package were 50% discounts, others 35%. Didn't notice which was which!

    Hi all.

Upon looking through this thread i see its mostly people talking about Sky deals.

Has anyone had any success with getting a cheaper deal with Virgin?

Latest bill in is £111 and thats not on tbh.

Got 60mb broadband, phone line, tv xl, sky sports & extra box for my sons room.

Our box in the living room isnt even a tivo or anything, just a standard non HD box!!

Any success stories will be welcomed.

Just to update. i called and cancelled Sky on Friday as in the post below.
Thought i would call their bluff and see if i got a call from the real retention department befor ei called them again later in the month and have just received a call from Steven to see if there was anything they could do to keep my business.

after a 10 minute chat i have got 35% off of the viewing package, 35% off one multi room and 35% off the HD sub - reducing my bill from £101 to £65 a month for 12 months, no contract. Plus a credit due as i've already paid up front at £101, meaning next bill is £37

happy with the discount and happy with the service this time.

With my bill now in excess of £100 a month and fed up of seeing brilliant deals for new customers, i've just phoned sky to see what they can offer to help me out.

I had to deal with a fella called paul who was aggressive & rude; interrogating me over and over with the same questions for 20 minutes despite me giving the same answers for 20 minutes!

the best they offered was a half price multi room @ £5.63 ( we have the full package and 3 multi rooms - we are also customers from the 80's, with myself holding the contract for the last 7 years). he also kept saying offers available to existing customers change all the time, try calling back in a week or two and see what we have. So i asked him what they've had in the past and he couldn't tell me anything at all :-/

the call became increasingly frustrating and aggressive interrogation, talking over me and not listen to my answers, insisting that i will never get sky's channels cheaper elsewhere from paul so in the end i handed in the notice (which took me another 5 minutes of insisting to get thro his talking).

i'm actually really disappointed in the customer service from sky.

So my question is, what now? will i be contacted by a different retentions department or do i need to start making alternative plans? or if i call back once i've received the confirmation letter, will they offer me a better deal?

i wonder whether this is a particularly good time? I was amazed when i got a call which resulted in very nearly 50% a mere 5 days after ringing to cancel. I just hope I havent made a mistake declining the offer!!!

Rung up to cancel Sky TV last month & due to be disconnected on the 7th April (Not good as that's when Game Of Thrones starts again).

The only communication i've had from Sky is confirmation of my cancellation, no offers or anything. I'm going to stick to my guns though & not contact them until i'm disconnected, or should i wait for them to contact me?

I don't feel too confident that i'm going to get the 75% off like many others have got though.

Ensure you haven't switched off marketing contact in your My Sky account.
The best deals are offered after cancellation, not during the notice period.
