ADSL broadband is markedly slower than cable broadband.

Don't forget you'll need to pay for a line to be installed.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have the 30mpbs service and I often get 31mpbs. What is the capacity of your copper wires?

    Has Sky got TiVO?

I called up Sky over the weekend to 'cancel' and was put through to a lovely Scottish lady who helped me get a great deal! I used to have Sky+, broadband and line rental with them for £40. In the end, I managed to get a new Sky+ HD box with free installation. The HD viewing was free for the first six months and she threw Movies into the viewing package I already have and reduced that to £17. Alongside that, I managed to get free line rental for 6 months and they also reduced my broadband to £7.50. So in total it's gone down from £40 to £25pm for six months! :j

Has anyone had any experience of coming out of these half-price-for-six-months deals? Did you get what you were promised at the end of the six months?
