Call their retentions department on 01642 191200 and tell them that you spoke to customer service about cancelling and they told you to call retentions.
Say to them, very naively, "I have no idea why they have told me to talk to you, as all I want to do is arrange to cancel my subscription after my contract finishes, because I have been offered a better deal with Sky. Are you the people who sort out the cancellations and arrange the collection of the old box etc.?"
Thanks though!0 -
Hmm, they must have changed the number then. Try 01256 752000, it is their main switchboard number. If not try the usual customer service number and ask for retentions. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hoping this is the right place to ask for help...
Am moving from Hull (Crappy KC are the ONLY company we've been able to get broadband and house phone from) to a house that already has a vm line. All the choice is confusing me, would somebody please be able to give me some pointers... I know VM has £151.50 cash back at the moment so am thinking we may go with them, anyway requirements are: Use the internet quite a lot, but do not do a lot of downloading, not bothered about a homephone, do I need one for broadband?? Would quite like some decent(ish) chaneels, but not overly fussed. Errrm, thats it really. Im confused with how much mbs I need, and all the different offers available. Anyone kind enough to help?0 -
I phoned up last night as we have just finished our years contract after getting a HD box last June. I managed to get a £50 credit to my account (Currently pay £50 a month) and 25% off for 6 months. I was quite pleased with this as he said I can phone up and cancel at anytime or get a new offer as not tied to a new contract!0

Sky contacted me to offer me a free HD box and free installation as they're phasing out the old Sky+ boxes and I managed to get 6 months free HD subscription, a serviced Sky+ box for the bedroom and 6 months free multiroom out of them too. Goes to show what they can get away with offering when it suits.0

called sky last night, on the phone for about an hour and a half in total and managed to get 25% off for 6 months for the TV side of things.
Also found out i wasnt receiving a £5 discount on my Sky broadband, which i should get for having my telephone line with them, so im getting a £60 credit for that.
I also got moved to a new broadband tariff that is identical to the one i'm on (unlimited) for £7.50 instead of the £15 i was paying (should have been £10) per month.
not bad going for a first try.
Has anyone ever had any luck getting any more discounts after the 6 months? Obviously when 6 months have passed, i'd like to see what more i can do!
The chap did say on the phone that there are a lot of changes coming up in the future that will benifit the type of viewing i do etc... what that means i dont know as he couldnt say anymore. It could have been sales talk though.0 -

Have, at the moment:
XL TV and V+ HD box
2 additional V Boxes
M Broadband
Line Rental
Sky movies and sky sports
Paying £93.99 for that all.
Best offer I was given was £87. Absolutely shocking.
bye bye virgin.
I just spoke to Virgin to change our package.
Not been reviewed for a long time, currently don't even have a set top box and getting redundant packages. Been with them since the days of Ninex!
Currently getting:
TV M (yet no set top box)
B.Band M
Phone XL and a call divert costing £46.04 PM
Asked for TV M+, Phone M and B.Band L (all minimum packages) with the HD V+ recording box. Keeping the divert.
Currently £40.04 PM £49.99 one off payment for the box with free installation and £100 credit to new customers.
For us, £54.04 PM and £69.99 one off payment for the set top box/installation.
Guy didn't even flinch when I stated that us being faithful to them for over 10 years meant they could charge us an extra £15 PM and accused me of making the package up!
Nor was he bothered when I said I will probably just buy Sky!
Problem is, we have a business on the NTL email address so we cant lose it. Any ideas on how to sort these out?0 -

This doesn't make sense. More information please. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
i don't know if it's been mentioned yet, or if it's the right thread, but if you don't have sky movies or sports, you can currently get 3 months free sky movies pack 2. give sky a quick call and ask them to put it on for you, but don't forget to call back in 2 months to cancel it down if you don't want to pay for it when the offer endshelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
We stopped having sky a year ago when a neighbours tree stopped our signal and we didn't have any help from Sky.
This all changed today when hubby rang up to see what they could do, or arrange removal of the dish.We have been rehashing our finances so were ready to change broadband and home phone too.
He has managed to get, half price TV for a year, free HD+ box and free installation/to move dish, to fix our foliage issues.Free HD service and broadband for first 3 months, plus £100 cashback into sky account which effectively pays for the service for the first 3 months.
We were paying orange £33 month just for bad broadband, line rental and evening and weekend calls. Now we will pay sky £30 for first 3 months(free when you count in £100 credit)then £47.75 for 9 months, but for this we have all we had from Orange, proper unlimited broadband, plus the TV we want and Sky Movies 1+2.
Well worth an hour on the free phone line.:j
