Just put a call in to Sky this afternoon to see what they could do. Currently paying £52 a month for a Sky TV package. I don't live in a cable area, so told them I was considering BT Vision as I had just upgraded my broadband to BT Infinity. (The BT Infinity part was true, the considering of BT Vision wasn't)
Was immediately offered half price TV for the next 6 months and no tie-in to Sky. So happy to save £156 for a 5 minute phone call.0 -
Hi,
At the moment I'm a sky customer paying £42.65 for Entertainment and Sky Movies (6 month 1/2 price movies offer) Including HD at £10.25, £7.50 for BB unlimited and £11.25 for my line rental.
So in total thats £61.40 a month.
Had a Sky Switcher leaflet through from Virgin Media (virginmedia . com / skyswitcher1) Quite a appealing offer a V+HD box and a additional HD box. Its a 18 month contract but the option that caught my eye was XL TV, 30mb Fibre optic broadband and Phone M. All for £51 for the first 6 months then £56 for the remaining year. No one off costs, or any other charges for install etc. A £100 credit to your first bill if you buy online or £50 by phone.
So in total thats £54.33 a month.
Called sky and explained my predicament. At first they tried to sell me multiroom at a extra £20.50 per month for a HD box upstairs. Free install etc. Called back got a different operator and she informed me that sky were changing the price structure in september so you only pay once for HD services for all the multiroom boxes you have.
So she offered me the basic 2 mix, phone and BB unchanged and the multiroom HD for £61 a month to start from september. For the first 3 months its £71 but she was going to credit £30 to the account. But its a tie in of 12 months again...
Anyone else been tempted to switch from Sky to Virgin in response to this offer? Ive never had virgin before, and been a sky customer for 5 years.
Any ideas on which offer I should take up? Or if you think theres any room for manovre with these offers?0 -
Been trying to research as much as I can and I cant believe you can get everything half price if your a NEW customer with a promotional code! If you cant get a code you can even buy them online off ebay! Full package e.g. sky world and HD for just £32 a month!
Loyalty really does mean nothing!0 -
Contacted Sky today and asked the very nice gent in Scotland if i could get a cheaper deal without loosing any of my package and he looked at it and without any questions asked, i will be saving around £234 over the next 6 months taking my monthly charge from £92to £63 per month thanks moneysavingexpert.

Just called Sky using the info from this thread.
Was paying £42.75 for my TV package, which is 4 pack and Sports + £12.50 for my unlimited Broadband. Total = £55.25
Was offered half price on my TV package, bring it down to £21.38. Package total now = £33.87
Saving roughly around £133 for a ten minute call.0 -
I'm considering joining Sky as I am moving house next month and I can't get my BT vision service in my new house. Don't want to pay the full cost and online you only get HD free for 3/12 - does anyone have any ideas on where to get offers, etc, for getting it cheaper?

Wonder if anyone can help I called sky a few days ago trying to get something knocked of the bill, The rep would not budge saying we was not entitled to anything, I called asking them how i could reduce costs and nothing.
We have 4 mixes and movies and sports along with £12.50 Broadband think it comes to about £62.50pm, Just wondering if anyone can some advice how i should go about my call.0 -

i think it all depends if you're in a cabled area or if you can get BT vision as to how much haggle power you've got with sky. sky is pretty much the only choice for us & when i rang a few days ago i got offered very little in the way of discounts. i'm ringing them again later & hoping as it's nearly month end, it might help somehow!0
