  • Sorry in advance if this has been discussed at length.

Ok I've just (5 minutes ago) cancelled my sky package, £76pm for Sky sports, hd, plus, broadband and line rental.

When I said I wanted to cancelled he offered me a 50% reduction in broadband and line rental for 12 months which reduced my bill by a "whopping" £9.

Obviously I wasn't going to accept that when I've seen the deals on this website that people have managed to get.

Anyway, I'm mainly posting to A) get some assurances that I've done the right thing and B) get some advice on what to do next.

Should I do nothing and wait for them to contact me?

I've got 31 days before the cancellation date so have set a reminder for 7 days before in case nothing happens.

I would've been happy with reducing my bill from £76 to around £50 for 12 months but he wasn't having any of it.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

The best deals are made available to those who allow their services to actually end. No point ringing them seven days before your notice period ends as Sky will have called your bluff.
Perhaps read a few pages of this thread?
  • Yeah I've just read the last 4 or 5 pages. If I don't get a 75% discount I'll let it run over the 31 days.

I'm intrigued by the guy who managed to get a great deal with only cancelling his tv deal, if the broadband gets cut off then that's obviously quite problematic.

Only if you don't go to another supplier for a "new customer" deal!
  • well I'm going to have to wait until the last minute thought aren't I? or will switching to a new broadband provider not have an impact on the deal sky offer me if/when they call?

Does it matter? The whole point is to save money.

While I think Sky's TV service has distinct advantages (more channels, HD etc), their broadband offering is distinctly average.

Nothing to stop you having TV and broadband from different suppliers, of course.

If anyone wants significant discounts from Sky at either renewal or new, then just mention the words 'Considering BT TV'. That should cause a stir. :)

had to mention this from earlier, had my 2nd call from sky today, he somehow managed to say that the 50% of my package for me is dearer than the 35% off package, give him credit for that one, i will be happy to accept the 50% off package when the time comes.

It matters if I'd only get say 50% off if I have a TV deal but if I have TV and broadband then I could get 75%. All hypothetical of course as I don't know the answer to that. It's why I asked the question.

You won't get 75% off your whole package. Deals are usually for one service alone.
