Can anyone confirm the size of the hard drive in the 'free' Sky HD+ boxes? It says you can record up to 60 hours of HD programmes, but doesn't specify the gb. Thanks!
The latest (built-in wifi) boxes are 500GB of which 250GB is available for the subscriber's use.

A larger (2TB) version is also available (at extra cost) and that gives the subscriber 1.5TB.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You've cancelled. Either go to another PayTV supplier (and get new customer deals) or get used to the Freeview channels that will be the only one's available to you in one month's time.

If you hold your nerve and don't call Virgin, it's likely they'll attempt to keep you as a customer by offering discounted terms-but do be aware that agreeing to this will enter you into a new minimum term..

Just had a call from Sky wanting to ask why I've decided to cancel. Gave them the same spiel as before. She offered me 35% to stay. I declined.

    Hello,

Moving house shortly to a cable area. Currently have Sky TV, o2 broadband and BT for landline (never used). I'm out of contract with Sky so would it be worth haggling with them if I wanted to bundle all 3 services together?

I doubt you'd need to "haggle" much to get a cheaper deal for a bundle of all three services from one provider. In addition, if you never use the landline, why have it at all? Just see what they offer on a TV/broadband combination.

On a side note, do be aware that Virgin don't offer all the channels available via Sky-so do check to see if your regular viewing habits will still be available to you before you do switch.

See what cashback is available via Quidco etc, go to Sky's website and make some notes.

Spend a bit of time comparing suppliers, prices, etc with a pen and paper and work out what channels you need, speed of broadband, contract length and if you want to pay for your line rental upfront

Absolutely - haggle (if they don't make you a decent offer straight off!). I don't know if you're aware but Sky took over O2 BB. Sky should have contacted you by now.

    http://www.o2.co.uk/help/everything-else/o2-home-broadband

They've been offering O2 BB customers (all of whom will be, eventually, migrated over to Sky) heavily discounted line rental/BB (eg £12.50pm rolling contract, line rental, anytime calls and bb), together with account credit. Some have even been given free TV to take the BB but they tend to be new TV customers. The offers can be wide ranging from individual to individual and some vanish into the ether and may not be available now. But, if you don't ask.... And,IMO, you need to ask now, before they officially migrate you over, as part of completing their takeover. (I am presuming, from your post, you haven't had any contact from them about BB, or anything about it in your 'My Sky' account).
You're in a good position with regard to BB/line rental. People who are 'reluctant' to be moved over to Sky, from O2, are getting some good offers! ;)

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sky-12-line-rental-unlimited-broadband-12-50pm-with-voucher-1843176

You may find that Sky will tell you they won't give you a discount on the TV if you get one on the BB/line rental and vice versa. However, it really does depend on whom you talk to, at what time etc and might involve you making a few attempts before you get what you want. If you look over on Hotukdeals some customers have pushed hard enough to get a TV discount and one for BB/line rental. There are examples of people being passed back and forth from dept to dept but eventually getting the best deals.

    Good luck!

The Sky Win Back department can negotiate better deals than the Cancellations department but you have to let your cancellation take effect first.
