    Well that was quick.

All Sky TV services stopped on Friday after a year of the 50% off MSE deal. At the weekend I unplugged the Sky HD box and put the Humax Freeview box back in after giving it a good dust. Rescanned for the latest channels and put them in a sensible order. All working well although I am noticing the poorer picture quality having been spoilt by HD channels on Sky.

Mondays post arrives with a come back to Sky flyer offering 50% off any package.

As stated many times if you want the best offers you must see through your cancellation. I am thinking of taking up their offer but seeing the 75% discount above that JMG4321 was offered I might wait and see what happens. They have given me till March 20th till their offer ends.

Ditto!!!!!!! As per my previous post last week all my services were cut off on the 7th March. Lo and behold got the come back to Sky flyer today with with 50% off the Sky Entertainment Extra+ for 12 months new contract. I've got both my sports back plus the multiroom for the bedroom tv. I didn't need HD as my tv is only HD ready and not 1080p. So now for £38.25 I am getting a nice new HD box for free with the on demand feature to replace my old Sky+ box with dodgy rewind. Very pleased:T

I am now a believer! Whilst some people may strike lucky when just threatening to cancel the truth is the best deals come to those who cancel.

Yes, this is borne out by numerous individual experiences related over and over on this thread.
Those who accept a deal while still in the notice period are losing out on a potential better deal if they are prepared to follow the cancellation process through to conclusion.

I have to say I was surprised that the flyer came through for you so quickly, however.:T

Any suggestions as to a way forwards ?
If you are prepared to lose all services for a time, then I'd suggest you do as others have done on this thread and cancel outright. Postal flyers will be sent offering you a better deal to stay. You shouldn't have to speak to anyone to do this.
  • I'd see what the next flyer has to offer (probably a month away), but do realise that not everyone will get that 75% ...

I think I will wait. Although a 50% saving is good I don't really rate Sky TV that much. So many channels but a lot of them I never watch. There are lots of full documentaries on YouTube and I can stream TV and movies from Amazon Prime for under £5 a month (and maybe Netflix too if I sign up for that).

Me too. I have Sky Broadband and I wonder if they saw I had been reading up on getting a DreamBox to replace Sky !
  • After reading through the thread I cancelled my £100 plus package and Sky was switched off at the end of February.
Got the 50% discount flyer today so gave them a call, I told them that I had a flyer for 50% but that a "friend" had recently got 75% off and asked was that deal still available. I was put on hold while she went away to check and she came back and said it was. I am now on the top bundle for £20 and a few pence!
Many thanks to all the people who have posted on this thread, I have saved myself nearly £600 a year.

Those deals DO come to people who don't actually have to go through with cancellation, too :o
The best deal is actually getting the hd box AND 75% off. Rare, but it is given.

Just cancelled. Got 30 days now until I lose my TV services.

    The waiting game begins.

If you have Sky Plus then make sure you watch anything important before they turn this feature off.
