Still £102 pm is a huge amount to pay for a few electrons
I can't justify paying anywhere near that.
No - it's ridiculous. But then that's for customers who do not move from providers.
You get roughly the same service (delivered by various routes such as aerial, satellite or cable) from all three of the "biggies" and they all offer cashback deals on joining (not this deal however as its undercutting everything) so it makes sense to keep moving around.
I would say I probably won't have Sky Sports and Sky Movies in 13 months time and will likely be back to Virgins service and BT Sport (who should have developed more by then).
Virgin currently offer TV, phone and broadband with BT Sport for £35pm for 6months and then £56pm. Cashback on that and I'm laughing plus all the cabling for it is already installed...0 -
Marsman802 you do realise though it is 18month contract? I have speaking with Virgin myself as I am sick of sky giving fab discount to newbies yet when I ask for my first ever discount in 12 years computer says NO..!
i was told if you have one service from Virgin (standalone broadband, phone,tv) its a year but more than 2 services and its pushed up to 18 months.0 -

Hi - yes those Virgin contracts do now lock you in for 18months however there was traditionally a clause in the contracts that stated if they increased your tariff then you have 30 days in which you can just leave Virgin. Not sure if they've written that option out now.
But Sky are still traditionally 12 month deals.0 -

As per my message a couple of pages back, I cancelled my TV completely but was only offered 25% off.
I've been switched off for 3 days - I called today and innocently told Sky I had one of MSE's 50% offer codes (I didn't) and they said I didn't qualify for the offer but they could offer me the same deal. I now pay:
TV with sports: £21.75
Broadband & line rental: £7.70
Total: £29.15
I'll try for a cheap multi-room subscription at a later date as they could only offer me full price today.2016 diet challenge 16lbs/42lbs lost

Background:
Got pretty much the complete package with Sky. Can't swap to Virgin as they dont offer it in my village. Contract ends March 19th.
Called up Sky this morning, got through to cancellations and out of the call they offered me 10% discount off the entire package. I was pretty firm that I was going to cancel. Didn't agree to anything on the call, said I needed to check with the other half.
Questions:
Should I expect Sky to call me back before this date to check whether I wish to take up the offer?
If I do go through with cancelling (which I don't really want to) how long will it be until my service is cut off (I would assume the same day)?
From the messages I've read, it seems a bit hit & miss as to what you get from Sky with regards to discount when an existing customer. Any suggestions on what I should do from here?
We have a ton of channels that we don't watch like the music ones, the religious ones, the shopping ones, etc. I like having the movie, sports, documentaries and Sky Atlantic & FX. If I spoke to Sky about it, would they do a custom package to suit my needs?
Really appreciate any information/suggestions.

When I rang to cancel they offered me 10% which I declined. About 3 days later they rang to offer me 20% which I also declined. Haven't heard anything since and that was a month ago. Sky is due to be stopped today (although I have Sky phone and broadband which I am happy with)
They don't cut you off instantly. There is a 30 day period before the TV service ends.
Sounds like you are the kind of customer they like - TV, films and sports. You're best off cancelling the lot and then see what they offer you a few weeks after it all stops. If they don't try to tempt you back then give them a ring and see what offers they currently have.0 -
Sounds exactly the same scenario. We have TV and broadband with them and are more than happy with that (in fact they've given us a 50% discounnt on all of that for the next year).
So if they call in a few days, offer me something else, I decline and say I want to cancel then I'll have until mid april to see if they come back with anythign more. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Thanks for your help.0
