Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

I'm currently paying £78 for the full TV package and multi-room. I called last week but all they would offer is a £10 a month discount for 3 months. I've now cancelled Sports and Movies.0

I have the Virgin XL package (no added extras like sport or movies), and it costs me between £60 and £70 a month, how can i cut this back, and not loose too many tv channels please?
I never use my landline, ever, it just sits there
Would any kind of tv 'box' allow me to cancel my virgin and just get a contract for broadband on its own? Surely i can moneysave a fair bit?
Thank you in advance0 -

I cancelled on January 15th and my TV package was cancelled on Feb 15th. I was unable to cancel my Phone because i use it as a business number and not having it is not an option. I realise this reduces my haggling power, however....
On 19th i called Sky on the pretense of cancelling my Phone/BB and the girl offered me the exact same package i had previously for £63 per month instead of the £98 i had been paying (TV/Phone/BB included). I realise that this is still way more than say the 75% offer but i was unlikely to get offered that, with still being a phone and BB customer.
Anyway, over £400 per year saving so i'm more than happy with that.:beer:0 -
Following my cancellation earlier this week, Sky rang me today and offered me 45% off my TV. I asked if they were able to do anything on my line rental/broadband but they said no could only discount the TV. I said I could get a better offer on broadband with EE (£2pm + £11pm for line rental) but said I'd rather save the hassle if they could offset the saving by giving me a greater discount on TV. The guy came back with a 50% off the TV package for 12 months and still gave me the option to cancel line rental and broadband so I took it and will switch to EE for broadband.
I cancelled movies and the HD pack as they wouldn't discount the HD and my offer on that was ending so would have been £10.75 which isn't worth it (hoping for another offer as was paying £2.50 pm for HD previously). But will now be paying £21.50pm for sky entertainment and sports package for 12 months and £13pm for broadband (inc line rental) with EE (slightly less in reality after £105 tcb!) as opposed to £83ish if I hadn't made the call! Very happy with my efforts!0 -
Sky been off for 2 months now.
Had a few calls offering 50% off, and 2 mailshots to 'take advantage of 50% off and half price sky go extra before Feb 27th'
hanging on for 75% off OR 50% plus free sky multiroom now..0 -

Every few months Sky would keep calling me offering me 50% off the TV packages or some other 'great' offer but I kept turning them down, since I wasn't really bothered about the TV.
The other week they called and offered me the Entertainment Extra Pack, Movies, Sports, SKY+ HD, plus the Sky HD box and free installation all for £25 per month, fixed for 25 months. Also, they threw in 12 months free Broadband. Sadly no 2TB box though.0 -
I recently cancelled Sky TV and they offered me 20% off TV with Sports and multi-room for £2.50. I said no, but I did sign up for their broadband and line rental for £7.70 for 12 months as I felt that was a great deal.
I do 'need' () the TV for the Premier League so I don't really want it switched off. It gets turned off on Tuesday so I rang back today and they offered me 25% off TV with Sports and multi-room for £5.63.
This would make it a total of £45.95 for TV with Sports, multi-room, line rental and broadband.
I said no but very tempted to ring them back on Tuesday and take it!2016 diet challenge 16lbs/42lbs lost

When I review the 'my sky' contact details I note there is only an option to input your mobile number. As I will be changing this where do I input the land line number as it does not appear to allow this option?0

Need some help making a decision! I've got a 50% off Sky deal ending on the 15th and they've only offered me the usual 25% off which made it around £52 for the full package for 12 months (rolling contract)
I also have Virgin medium phone and 30MB broadband which costs in the region of £31.
I'm happy to try to drive both down or move my TV to Virgin - not keen to move the internet to Sky. What's the best tactic to get these prices down?0
