  • I've got the full sky package that includes tv, broadband, multiroom, 2 hd boxes and phone. I have always found Sky receptive to 'deals' providing you can get through to cancellations. I have been with Sky 12 years and annually negotiate discounts and free services, to date I have never paid extra for new boxes, routers etc.
This January my bill went up to £106 per month, I decided to get an equivalent quote from Virgin ( through their online chat facility on their website), they quoted me a deal that was better than Sky ( however i never had any intention to leave because I like the Sky service). Armed with this information I rang sky and calmly told them I was struggling financially and wished them to beat the Virgin offer. I also told them I didn't want to downgrade. Initially the advisor offered me £9 off a month, he asserted no other offers were available and all supervisors/ managers would offer the same deal! I told him that it was unfortunate I would have to cancel my subscription. Then I was put through to another advisor! Here I was offered a new Sky hub, and a new 12 month contract where I would pay £66 for the first month, £86 for the next 9 months and £96 for final 2 months! A saving off £240!
    Remember offers are there!
  • My Virgin Media package was costing me around £650 per annum. Tried to get them to drop the price to something more aligned to current deals with BT and Sky but they didn't come up with anything close. Called their bluff and told them I wanted to cancel. No risk as you can always call them back a week later and say you changed your mind if you really don't want to switch. No need though as 2 days later they called me back and I'm now paying £200 less per year. Happy days!

I cancelled and due to be cut off from Sky on 19th Feb.

All i have received is a customer survey asking why i have left.

I have had no flyers or calls (all ticked to receive on my online account)

My worry if i let it be cut off is that i would lose all my recorded programs, there are to many for me to catch up on.

Do i have much power to negotiate a deal before i am cut off?

(I have all the Sky channels, sports, movies etc, plus 1 multi room & HD, was paying £78pm from Dec as just come out of a 50% deal)

Just an update, i phoned 3 seperate times and they would offer no more than 25%, the day before i was due to be cut off, i rang in the morning, got nowhere, rang in the afternoon and got the 50% off whole package apart from HD. So for 12 months for all Sky TV i am paying £44.
A result and shows you dont actually have to be cut off to get a deal!

While this is true, the better deals are offered after the notice period.

When people are talking about offers being made to them via their my sky, where abouts are they appearing, I've looked through the various sections after logging in but see nothing.

If you have any offers, they are listed on the home page link. If you have no offers, there won't be any for you to see.

As in Home > upgrade > upgrade offers?

As I said, if you go to the Home page and you have offers available to you to return to Sky you will clearly see them. If you are currently a customer of Sky who hasn't cancelled, you are unlikely to see anything...

Thanks, I have cancelled and my service has ended, my home page as you describe it doesn't have anything personal to my account on it at all, just tv listing type stuff advertisements and such like.

The 'home' page is visible and the same whether logged in or not when I'm looking at it.

It appears that previous 'come back to sky' statement in my sky has started to be removed from accounts where people have actually had sky turned off. I have now been off 2 months and no call from them. I have to say not missing the tv and now looking for decent hard drive recorder. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
