Is HD subscription extra?0 -

I got the SKY 75% discount without the HD element.
Having spoken to them again they will apply the 75% discount if I upgrade from Entertainment extra to entertainment extra +. This gives me the HD on a number of channels for an extra £1.25 a month instead of £5.00 (Also some extra boxset stuff I believe).
However if I want the HD applied to my Sport and Movies then they want the full extra £5.25 per month as well. Therefore £6.60 instead of £10.25 for full HD upgrade.
Quite a complicated system and apologies if a couple of descriptions are not 100% correct..
This all confused me as originally when I switched back on again I "wrongly assumed" I would get the same as I was on before. My HD element had been charged differently on my old package. I did not notice I was not HD as the channel lineup shifts around so when I was used to Skysports 1 (HD) being on 401 it still was (Just not in HD).
The fact that i did not even notice visually has helped my decision not to upgrade.0 -
Hi All
Looking for advice really. I am about a month and 2 days off the end of my VM contract. I want to cancel to get a decent deal as it were, and I notice that there are people talking about 75% off their accounts.
I am wondering if they could provide their tactics for me to try. I currently have the following:- Telephone XL I believe it is called anytime calls to normal phones
- TV XL TiVo box and VM HD box in another room. (this incs BT sports)
- 60Mbps broadband (which due to over utilisation issues for the entire contract I have had about £14 a month back on but it requires I call)
- Sky Sports HD package which is about £37.50.
I am currently paying about £105 for this. It is too much as far as I am concerned but I am not going back to BT (their customer services is terrible), however I have seen some sky deals that look interesting but nothing with the speed of the internet that VM provide (even if it is very over subscribed).
For what I am getting I would consider a 50% reduction to be acceptable so areound the £50 mark, however reading about 75% off that would obviously be even better.
Also how have people got VM to lock their contracts as they raised the price twice since I joined. So it has gone up by a tenner a month basically or £120 a year.0 -
£576pa is 'modest'?
Bear in mind that once you move with VM you will be in a new minmum term contract, so if you want to negotiate, do it now before you move-because they won't be offering you anything once you're back in minimum term.
Work out what deal you could get from BT or Sky and ask them to better that-though remember that a move to either will cost you up to £130 for a new or reconnected landline.
I presume you are moving to a VM-cabled area?
Just got off the line with VM retention dept.He offered me virtually the same package except speed of 30mb rising to 50mb later in the Year.
Said not really a factor as am currently on 20mb and seems OK for me.Mentioned the free BT sport being the biggest factor and he came back with very best offer of £45 for the first 6 months then £54 after. Also includes TiVo box but not really a big factor for me as we aren't massive users of our V + box.
Use catch up occasionly and record the odd program.
Said was really keen to move to the BT TV entertainment Infinity 1 package for £30 first six months then £38 after.Broadband speed quoted was up to 38mb and VM would upgrade me to 30mg.Online offer includes free connection and £100 Sainsburys card.
Left the call with him after saying I'm more than likely to not take VM with me and he said they would wait for my call to confirm my next step.
Will I likely receive another call from them ?
ThanksThe truth shall set you free.....................0 -

First time we did this it was almost 4 months before we got a deal and then it was totally free for 4 months. We got this 3 times, so 11 months free (you give a months notice each time)
If you are serious about the best deals you have to prove this. Don't just expect them to ring a few days after you have been cut off.
It's when you are off for several months you release you can live with out Sky anyway, this whole process then becomes easier each year.0 -
