Said i had a flyer for 25% discount but online using My Sky, was offered 50%. He told me he could apply the 50%, to which i told him thanks but no thanks. He then asked if he applied 75% would i rejoin. I said depending on what costs where etc but more than likely yes.
Having movies and HD and the entertainment plus will cost £12 per month! Said im free with Virgin for 2 more months and in they 2 months i would pay SKY £24. Asked if he could do a credit or anything to compensate, all he could do was £5 credit.
I snapped it up, and im now on 75% for a year, no contract tie in either!
PS The same service with Virgin was £60!
Happy happy days! Thanks everyone!
Great work, which number did you ring please and which options did you choose? And did the person who answered the call do the offer or did you have to be transferred to another team? CheersA big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
Good Morning, newbie here as far as digital tv is concerned.
I currently pay £57 per month for Tv, BB and telephone, my tv is the family package I think, kids channels etc. I also had a second box installed upstairs which does not get used (kids still scrapping over the downstairs one) so I would like to get rid of that box.
I have a feeling that I am out of contract now, so would like some advice on haggling for a lower package if possible. Any advice or telephone number would be welcomed.Thriftkitten

If you read through the thread, you'll see that the best deals come through cancelling rather than trying to haggle a reduction while still subscribing. You have to be prepared to actually lose services for a period if you want optimum results.0 -
Apologies for that, it was Sky TV including BB and home phone.
I have just called for details on whether I am still in contract or out of, and to cancel the upstairs HD box... when put through to cancellations I said I had found a better deal withV**gin quoting package price per month etc and that as I was informed by customer services that I was indeed out of contract I would like to cancel, The lady was very pleasant and put my on hold she came back with a £12 per month discount for 3 months which I declined, she then came back with a £28 per month discount for 12 months, bringing my package down from £58 to £32.50 for the next year.... Happy with that. I also noticed that with V**gin the promotion would finish after 6 months and price would shoot up to almost what I was paying anyway, so feel pleased with the outcome. Many thanks Thriftkitten.Thriftkitten

Just used the number on here a few pages back. From memory I can't mind which option but the guy I spoke with didn't transfer me so I guess it was retentions.0 -
Well thats the phone line now cancelled as well as the TV.
The operator played the same game as the first person I spoke to originally "If you keep the phone line active, Virgin will take it over and cancel for you" Erm... no they wont as they use a seperate line!
So she tries cutting my phone off 14 days before my TV package does... nice little trick to put people off moving elsewhere I guess as theres no way of getting out of paying for 2 weeks of TV to two providers that way.0 -
My sky tv is due to go off tomorrow. (I didn't cancel phone or BB) I have not been contacted by sky yet.
Are they likely to contact me with offers or will I need to cancel Phone/BB too?
I'm a high spending customer of 7 years and never had any discounts before.:beer:0 -

The best deals are offered to those who cancel completely.0 -
Have now been switched off from sky tv for the past month and no phone call or leaflet received even though all marketing preferences are ticked. My sky displays the 'come back to sky' message and whilst I have spoken to the call centre the best offer for entertainment and sports isn't much better than 25% off the £59 even though sky are aware I have ready access to virgin bb.Netflix, freesat and freeview hd continue to be best friend. It is looking more and more likely that the 75% and credit deals are the rare exception.0
