It is true, Sky are acting illegally if what you say is accurate.

If all your marketing preferences are switched off and you still get mailshots and calls you can, of course, complain to the regulator.

Are you certain you forbade contact completely?

Absolutely 1000% - the retentions woman was quite frankly the rudest person I have ever met on a customer service phone line. And lied about VM beyond the reasonable. I will never, ever, return to Sky. Ever. And all because of her :)

Ironic that she's employed to retain customers then!

Did u complain about the women? If not then Sky will never know why they`ve lost another customer. U may not be the only one she`s deterred!

  • Not sure how the bickering is helping people save money .....

    Anyway......

I cancelled sky about 8 months ago and have received weekly offers of 50% off to return. All went in the bin!
After reading a few forums I decided to call this number 08442411914 and try to blag 75% off.

I said I had received a letter asking me to come back and asked what they could do. The nice lady said she could give me 50% off any TV package as long as I use my old box.
I let her finish the breakdown of costs and then said "oh, the letter I received says 75% off, is that offer still available?"
She said that she could could give me 75% of TV but would not be able to give any discount on phone or broadband.

So £20.75 a month for SKY Entertainment extra+ with on demand, sports, movies and HD for 12 months with no contract.

Plugged my box in when I got home and hey presto!

I might call later to cancel the HD as this was not discounted which would mean only £15 a month for all channels in SD.

So just because you didn't receive the 75% off mailshot doesn't mean you can't blag the offer!

Needless to say, my wife is very annoyed because she thinks £20 a month is way too much for any TV package... oh well, I am sure she will come round !

We've had sky for years. Currently paying £50 a month for package plus movies. It's in DH's name. We're out of any minimum term.

I had a sky account up until 8ish years ago (might be longer). Just wondering whether I can take out a new account as a returning customer using a half price code and cancel DH's subscription?

We'll be having a second dish fitted and a second box fitted to an outbuilding this month too (a friend is doing it as a favour) so I'll need a multiroom subscription as well, but no sky installation for it.

Any ideas whether this will work, and if so how's best to do it?

  • Ask her how much her hair cut costs compared to yours.
That does it in my house.
  • You are seeking advise on how to commit fraud. Although the account is in one person's name Sky regard it as being with the house hold - within the Ts ^ Cs ( or a question they ask new subscribers) is whether there is an existing or has been a recent account at the address.

Legally you have to be cancelled 12 months before you are considered a new customer.
  • I called the Sky Customer line and chose the "Payments" option. When I asked to be put though to cancellations (after getting nowhere with him for a reduction) he claimed that he WAS in cancellations and that there was no further stage to take it through to. Does that sound right?

How are you going to link the phone lines for the main house and outbuilding?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

They're already on the same phone line (outbuilding is an office). Phone line is not with Sky, nor is broadband etc. This is just tv.
