when I phoned up ,they said my loyalty bonus had finished, but surely they have to inform you ?
They will have "informed" you how long the loyalty deal was to last when they offered it to you, they don't have to remind you when it ends.

It's difficult to see you getting anything further unless you agree to a new minimum term.
  • My mum is 80 years old - she is paying £31 a month for Sky TV Only (no movies, no sport) - she has a Sky+ downstairs, & an old sky box connected upstairs.
It seems rather excessive just for TV & I intend to haggle with them tomorrow to get it reduced.
We are not in a good area for Freeview pick-up.
    She cant get Virgin.
    I would appreciate any tips.
My main bargaining power intends to be based on....
    • It is not a "package"
    • She has no Broadband.
    • She does not get her phone from Sky. (She is "old school" & wants to keep BT for her phone).
  • As this thread indicates (over and over), the best deals are only offered to those who cancel their services. You've been offered a £7 reduction on your bill (so well done) but if you hope to receive more you'll have to cancel. There are no guarantees.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks people don't quite grasp how to play the sky game?

Never ever ring them to ask for anything, it's a simple as that.

Cancel and wait, as moneyineptitude says there are no guarantees they will ever call, but as long as you have NOT said "no contact" they likely will.

Sky are quite canny though, they may leave it several months but they will call.

Believe me it's when it does run to months you realise you can live without sky, so it makes the game easier each year ;)

PS. I am currently on 75% off full package, following on from 11 months totally free.

SKY TV - PLAY THE GAME :rotfl:

If she cancels her Sky TV completely, her existing equipment will still receive all the Free-To-Air channels. She only needs to continue paying anything at all if she wants to receive subscription channels (and be able to record them).

It sounds like she is paying the bare minimum for Sky TV with Multi-Room anyhow..

The channels (many) which are not paid for by subscription to Sky. Most are available via Freeview.

So they just added the deal without providing any information about how long it might last?

Regardless, as I said earlier, it's difficult to see you getting anything further unless you agree to a new minimum term.

ok ,thanks, will be moving after a 17 pound increase though
  • Hi, if you take your sky viewing card out of the sky box, you will only be able to receive the freeview channels. You can then go through the channels, and see if you are happy with what you receive free of charge. When you have checked the freeview channels, just re-insert your viewing card to get your paid for channels back. If you are happy with the freeview channels only, just phone sky to cancel, and when you are cut off, you will still be able to get the freeview channels.

    regards.
