I'm coming up to the end of my 12month 50% off deal from last years MSE code. Called up customer services to see if they can do anything for me first but the guy said as I already had a deal applied they couldn't do anything at the moment and I should call back about 5 days before my contract is up.

That means they will get a full month at top dollar from me, that isn't right is it?

Should I call back and put my cancellation through?

I have had the same experience with a number of Sky operators telling me to call back the day after my 12 month 50% discount SKY digital subscription was over, to see if any other special offer would be available to me. I did so and contacted them the day after my 12 month discounted subscription had ended and was told I was calling too soon!!!
At this point I was seriously annoyed and I told them that I had decided not to renew my digital TV with them. I paid full price for a month. Now, 2 days without SKY tv, I have began the waiting SKY phone call game. :)

My advice to you: don't wait the end of your 12 month 50% deal. Phone them now to let them know you don't want to renew your subscription. You are very unlikely to get a decent offer if you haven't cancelled and been without SKY channels for a while.

    MONEY IN EP.

Stop telling people about opting in to Marketing Preferences.

Sky customers are AUTO OPTED in via their email account.

    That's just rubbish.

Sky customers have the choice of opting in or out of Marketing contact via "MySky". If they choose to stop Sky from sending marketing messages then they won't hear from Sky unsolicited until they opt in again.

    No it is not rubbish.

Look at your MySky marketing preferences.

You will note you are auto opted in to tailored emails etc.

I've looked already and know that customers are allowed (by law) to opt out of all marketing messages. That's why they are called "preferences"; if customers had no choice they could hardly be deemed "preferences" could they?

Anyone declining marketing messages will no longer receive any unsolicited contact from Sky. For most, this is desirable- but those wanting a call offering retention deals will be disappointed.

finally cancelled with virgin, after being with them for 8 years, are they likely to call back with a better offer ?
  • Okay all. I have been back for Sky just over a month via win back team at 75% discount and £100 credit. No additional contract.
They still sent me a come back to sky flyer in January.
This morning received another come back to sky flyer.
Just call 08442 411 361 and quote SKYDTR50 before 20th February if anyone wants to blag it.
Deal is simple 50% of TV & 6 months free Sky Go extra. Involves a 12 month contract.

No one who isn't eligible already will be able to "blag" this I'm afraid. The Sky operator will be able to see from each individual's account whether one of these letters have been sent.

Would like to get a 75% off email myself....cancelled last November, had a couple of 50% off emails but that's about it.

A 75% off email could just sway it
