  • I gave notice to sky in November and terminated December, haven't had any communication from them since I left even though my marketing preferences are all correct. I called them the other day as I had seen the Exclusive Offer on the My Sky web page. First call sounded like went through to one of the call centres outside of Uk. Informed that the offer has now finished and there are no new outstanding deals. Recalled few minutes later same process and went through to Uk. Explained situation again and lady offered me 25% discount on sky ent sport, HD package and a new 500gb box as ours had been playing up recently. Obviously this would be linked to 12 month contract. That was the best deal they could offer so I declined as I have noted other people have secured the 50% + box deal. Even if I did not have a new box it would still be only 25% I was informed. 2 questions.
1 How do existing people get the 2TB box ?
    2. What are the chances of securing the 2TB box at 50% and how long do you wait for this deal?

I would add that having been with Sky for 20 years and now no sky for 6 weeks it is a little strange as the biggest thing I miss is the planner and series link. I have virgin media fibre optic broadband but have always been with sky for tv and not so sure they have any better deals than sky. The absence of sky has been made slightly more palatable by the recent addition of the HD channels to freeview which give excellent picture quality and the Xmas present of Netflix which has great documentaries and drama.

Check your old "MySky" account, if you've disabled marketing contact then you'll never hear from them again.

Just logged in and got hit with the following, might give them a call tomorrow and see what they say

    come back to
    Sky and get an exclusive
    offer on Sky TV, whichever
    package you choose.

As a few other people I have received the letter saying my "free" HD trial for Sports and Movies is coming to an end in 2 weeks. I`m not even sure how I got this offer.....anyway, wonder if anyone else knew how to play this to keep the trial going etc?
I have logged onto My Sky and see I can sign up for HD for 12 months for 2.50 a month, thought this was quite good.
Must add, I don`t even have movies, got sports though and do like them in HD I must admit :)

The weird thing is, when I rejoined in the summer I specifically asked for the HD Pack for Sports and that was part of the deal I got. Without it, there's no point me paying for Entertainment Extra+. So if they didn't actually add it and I've only been getting the Sky Sports HD channels due to this "free trial" then I'm gonna kick off cos they've made me pay more than necessary for ages.

That's a very good deal you got. Is that including line rental or are you paying the 1 year line rental up front?

Did you tell them you were going elsewhere for a better deal, and if so, do you mind me asking what the deal was you quoted to get this price? Wouldn't mind having a go myself!

Yes, that's including line rental, we'd been offered a comparable deal with sky that worked out at £51 a month, but would mean giving up fibre optic bb & dropping the speed massively, so decided to pay a bit extra & stick with the fast bb
I refused their first deal when I rang up to cancel, so went ahead with the cancellation, within a couple of days I'd had a few calls I'd missed off them, when they did catch me that's the deal they offered :) it's worth a go! :)

Hi all, just a post to tell you my story

Been with sky 9yr8months (currently have sky ent extra/hd/movies)
last year I rang and cancelled and a week before being switched off they rang and offered 1/2 price for a year which I took.

So I rang today as offer has ended
Went straight through to cancel and said I was leaving because my offer had ended and was going to go to a youview box, they went through the usual of suggesting downgrading but I just said I wanted to cancel then they offered the [STRIKE]half price again for a year with a 12month contract Happy Days[/STRIKE] :money:
This hasn't happened....over the weekend I had emails confirming offer and its only 25% that has been applied to my account - talking to sky this morning and they won't budge from that 25% now:mad::mad::mad: Waiting for a call back from a manager:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j

They buy it. It's Sky's premium decoder, do you really think they'll discount it in the manner you describe?

If you want to get the half price you cannot get a free box unless your account has been marked 75% off, even then it would only be the 500gb model.
The cheapest way to get the package you want and a 2TB box is to phone up again (without providing you phone number to the machine) and say that you don't need a box (don't mention that you have called before) and take the package you want without HD or Entertainment Extra+. When the order has been confirmed and activated go to the sky website and add Entertainment Extra+, and the sky sports HD (if you want it), and you will see an option to upgrade to the 2TB box for £49 (you must take self set-up).
Please be aware this will tie you in for a 12 month contract from the date you activate the new box and you must have an existing box that can at least display the menus and connect to the phone line.

TL;DR: If you don't ask for a new box you can get 50% off and a 2TB box for £49.

I currently pay £49.90 for entertainment plus, broadband and line. Been with them for TV nearly 2 years and 10 months for phone and internet. They offered me a £7 discount on phone if I take out a new 12 months and keep TV.

I really want to cut costs of TV. Was hoping to add entertainment extra plus and pay £15.

Is this realistic? How long should I wait before trying again?

    Thanks

Right so I phoned up the number stated in the My Sky account regarding an offer, got a recorded message "The offer has now ended, to reinstate you viewing without the offer call" So phoned the regular customer services number, they would do damn all for me, so they can nicely stick it.
