Will now be spending the afternoon looking for a new broadband provider.....
I did this almost a month ago and my whole package is soon to disconect on Monday (£87 per months worth).
Sky could not give a toss I was cancelling they did not even ask why. Due to their attitude I have since decided to get Virgin Media, which gets installed on Friday, so even if they do call back it will be to late and they would have lost what was a good loyal customer. I feel their attitude is very short sighted and I hope they lose a lot more customers.0 -
Called up Sky today to try and reduce my line rental charge as I was made unemployed last October.
Spoke to the retention a team and I have got a £7.50 reduction off my monthly line rental and I was also offered a brand new HD box installed free of charge 😊0 -

How much is your sky bill usually - surely the family will enjoy that much extra to spend on going out if the worst comes to the worst and it does actually go off?
Personally in my house we are away most weekends so don't watch sky and in the evenings its mostly the terrestrial channels we watch... its only the odd weekend when we are at home that I might watch the football but if I am doing that then i'm not doing DIY so I would be better off losing it to be honest. Occasionally my wife watches a film but thats usually because there is nothing else on and its something to watch but again, doubt she would miss it. I honestly hope they do cut me off and I would happily hold out for 75% off but in reality if they do call me (and they have the last four times) before cut off and offer 50% off then I will probably take it
I'd be more than happy without it. However the husband is a huge sports fan (I mean he watched ALL sport) so I dread to think what would happen if it got switched off  Also the kids love Disney Jn, Cartoon Network etc.
Our last bill with phone and broadband was about £90 I think.0 -
To be honest, I think that now is probably not the best time to be cancelling due it being included in the weekly email. Surely their 'cancellations' will have gone through the roof and it makes sense for them to show that it isn't actually as easy is seems.
After 12 months at 75% off , followed by 6 months at 50% we've cancelled rather than accept the 30% offered this time and cancelled. Its just unfortunate that the email came out at the same time.
I'll leave it a month or so and if nothing comes up then their may be a new person moving into this house!0 -

I'm not sure why people get upset about this!
You called up to cancel and they cancelled for you. Sounds like good customer service to me.0 -

You would think that with the money they are spending to try and get new customers (Harrison Ford ads etc) they would make an effort to retain good customers. Good customer service to me is all about retention, any decent company should want to know why someone is leaving in order to do what they can to retain that customer not let them walk to the competition.0 -
Good for you.... well done.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hang in there! Good luck.
Have a look at Plusnet. Their current £2.50 unlimited offer ends 25th feb, I think and there is a possible £105 cashback with TCB. (offer is 12 months for 18month contract line rental up front £11pm)
I moved my broadband and phone from Sky to plusnet a few months back and think plusnet is great (after a little teething trouble).
Mine is a 12 month contract which is strange as you mention 18 months but saying that last time I looked months before I signed up I was sure it was 18 months as well...
Anyway with the cashback and paying the line rental up front, plus.net work out as a very good deal. Think my cashback was £70 (didn't track initially and I was very nervous but paid out within a month after putting a claim in) so a year upfront telephone was about £140 - £70 cashback = £5.83 a month for the phone and £2.75 a month for the BB so £8.58 per month all in.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Sorry, off-topic McKneff but just noticed your signature. I like it, but surely it should be "May I have..." not "Can I have..."A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

I currently pay £78.50 a month for the below services
NO PHONE/LINE RENTAL/BROADBAND just TV
Sky Entertainment Extra
Sports Pack
Movies Pack
Sky Multiscreen
HD Pack
1 x Sky + HD box
1 x Sky + box
I called as wanted to reduce payments, all they offered was to half either HD or Multiroom for 9 months. The only thing suggested to bring down the bill was to remove items I dont feel are needed i.e HD or Movies.
I am with Virgin for phone line / broadband, does anyone know what it costs to have all the above via Virgin ? Or if Virgin got any offers to join them at the moment ?
I have not asked to cancel Sky, but will do so, if I secure a better deal with virgin ?0
