Rang up to cancel Sky TV + Sports + HD yesterday and they didn't work too hard to keep me so it's back to Freeview next month. The last year I have been on a half price deal (£28) which was good but really there isn't a great deal on Sky that interests me or I can't get elsewhere.
Unless Sky come back with a 50% or more offer after we are disconnected I will probably invest in a Humax FreeSat PVR for about £200.
As an O2 phone and broadband customer I have just signed up with Sky broadband and talk for £12.50 a month but they didn't factor this in when looking at a potential TV package reduction.0 -

I cancelled 8-9 months ago and got the Humax Youview box (freeview not freesat) which was fine becasue I have a decent freeview signal. Great box with nice features and didn't really miss sky at all.
I had countless letters asking me to come back for 50% off but just ignored them.
Then last week I thought I would try it on and called to ask if the 75% off offer I received was still available, even though I hadn't received an offer and got the full package in HD for £20 if I drop the HD pack the it would be just £15!
Called back today about Phone and BB and got offered free unlimited BB and line rental dicounted to £10 so now £30 for everything but may still drop the HD pack so would only be paying £25.... less than some people pay for BB and line rental from BT!
A Humax box is the way to go until Sky are willing to play ball and give you a decent offer.
Mine is stored away for another 12 months, if Sky don't give me a good offer then I will canel and use it again until they do!0 -
I am having a nightmare with sky at the mo!
I am absolutely furious with the way I have been treated by sky. I phoned on last Thursday as my bill had recently increased to see if I could get any kind of offer. I explained to the man that my landline phone was low on charge and would he mind phoning me back if we got cut off. We did get cut off but he did not phone me back. We did NOT discuss any offers or apply anything to my account. I phoned again on Friday and spoke to a very helpful girl and we ended up agreeing a deal which made my bills £60.80 a month until October, my February bill would be £50 or thereabouts. On Saturday morning when I turned on my tv I noticed that my hd channels were not working strangely?? I phoned customer services AGAIN and was told that my hd had been turned off by the man who took the Thursday call?? I find this ridiculous. Why would I turnoff hd?? I got it turned back on but was told that my bills would rise to over £70. This was unacceptable and I asked to be put through to cancellations as I had had enough at this stage. The woman cut me off. I phoned back again and was told that for an unknown reason that my hd was turned off and that my bills will be over £70. I asked to cancel my subscription and was then told that I could not do so as I was in a 12 month contract which started when the girl on Friday applied the deal. I was at no point old that I was entering a contract. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that one would phone me back before 8pm. At 18:53 on the Saturday my phone rang for two rings and stopped! I presume this was sky as it was a no caller id. It rang for TWO rings. I tried to phone back but any number I rang says that the customer services close at 6pm. I cannot explain how infuriated I with this whole saga. I have better things I do on my weekends than spend them on the phone to sky. I find it hard that this is the way you treat a loyal customer of many years. I will expect a phone call tomorrow but will not hold my breath.
This was a copy of what I sent sky. I have the full tv package, phone & line rental. Since Monday, after more numerous calls,I have been waiting on a call from a manager who was supposed to listen to the two calls. Not surprisingly I'm still waiting.0 -
As long as your "new deal" involved no new hardware I find it hard to be believe they would have entered you in a new 12 month contract. 12 month discount yes.0

Hi Guys
For the 2nd year in a row now I have called up to cancel SKY. Yesterday I was due to get cut off.
I called up SKY and told them I had received a 75% discount leaflet through the post (no such thing) they told me there was nothing showing on the system for this, but could offer me 25%.....I told them no way, not if I have a 75% discount voucher here, I ended the call.
Called back a couple of hours later, told the guy I had received the leaflet, but the other advisor said he couldn't see it and to call back...this new advisor also said he couldn't see the mail shot....but offered me 50% off the full package for the year instead.....took it straight away!
£54.15 per month for all channels, including movies and sports, HD pack, broadband, line rental etc
08442411914
He also said to call back up in a few days to try and get a deal on Fibre broadband ;-)
Good luck guys, just be persistent, that's my advice!
PS - I'm hearing people are actually managing to get 75% off as well, my aim was to get 50% so was happy enough when they offered it0 -
I left SKY last October after my deal ended and to date have not had any offers from them. Then at Xmas Virgin called offering free medium plus for 3 months, and if i decided to keep it, i would pay an extra £10 a month.
We took the deal, and shall reduce to tv to freeview in March. I just hope that by then SKY have mailed me an offer. I dont really wanna make a fool of myself by calling up pretending to have an offer when there is nothing available. But if they did, i would want the monthky cost to be as close to £10 as possible, so what kind of package would i be looking at?0 -
Left Sky Jan 9th only offered 10% off or 20% for 6 months. One week later got email regarding survey to why I left. Filled it in but heard no more.
This morning received "Come back to Sky" letter - 50% off for 12 months.
Phoned them this afternoon to check what was available and costs - was quoted £24.50 for Sky Sports and Entertaiment Extra. Said I would talk it over with my wife and get back to them later. Then was offered Managers Special for today only Sports,Movies and Entertainment - full package for £14.25 a month for 12 months(75% off).. Signed back up there and then - all channels working within 5 minutes of ending call - RESULT.
Would not offer any discount on HD though.
see what happens in 12 months0 -

I went through the usual cancellation I have done for the last 5 years ( Only ever paid half price ) and sky was cut off yesterday. About 2 hrs later checked my account on sky and their was a come back and see what deal you can get message on their. When I phoned the 0844 number their was a message saying this deal is over !
I phoned the 0844 2411914 quoted in a previous post and quoted the come back message without saying the deal is over bit.I was immediately offered a 50% off deal for a year and no tie in.Went for it and the sky box was up and working as soon as I got off the phone !
I know some people are getting 75% off but perhaps they don't have my wife on my case as soon as the box went to freesat !0 -

Do have phone and broadband with them and, if so, do you manage a deal with these, too?0
