Minimal.
You've just downgraded, not cancelled. You'll undoubtedly, though, receive flyers in the future offering you movies and sport again at a reduced price for a limited period.0 -
Well, well, well, my services were due to go off on Saturday and for the first time in the last three cancellations, they didn't call me to offer a deal... or at least not a call that I was in to receive.
So now I am without Sky paid content and to be honest I couldn't give a stuff. It would be nice to have especially since I have been home this weekend and the football has been on. However the Winter Olympics in BBC HD have kept me occupied and will do for the next few weeks.
Have logged into my account for a few times but the banner message (strangely) reads "Hi XXXXX, You can watch your personalised welcome video here."
Anyway just going to go on chat and reactivate my contact preferences. Only took them off in the first place because I was fed up of Sky selling my details to the "Warranty on your Sky box" company.
After that, I will ring them and tell them I have received a 75% off flyer but just wondering how long to leave it before I ring.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

Am paying £106 atm and have pretty much the lot bar ESPN and BT sport. Have always had some sort of discount so asked for another. Was told nothing available so have started cancellation proceedings, initially for the TV, and have told them that once fibre is in our area, I'll move the phone and bb (all unlimited).
At first this was with renegotiation in mind, but as it sinks in that I could save maybe £70+, I'm tempted to get a Humax Freesat pvr and sack off the pay TV for a while...
At least it puts me in a strong bargaining position I guess...I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

It might achieve similar results to those good folk that have done this and been given a rather satisfying discount (as per several posts, previous)0 -
Hi, just to chime in with the deal I got on Saturday. I was on the M+ TV package, 30mb broadband and free weekend telephone calls. With the occasional phone call our monthly bills were coming in at around £50 per month. I couldn’t do without the internet and wanted anytime calls, but I wanted a better price. I had researched other providers beforehand and genuinely didn’t mind cancelling altogether if necessary.
I explained to the gentlemen what I wanted and that I wasn’t as bothered about the TV package, but that it’s a nice bonus. He quoted me unlimited phone, broadband as is and a reduction in TV to the medium package. All for just £35.99 per month on a 12 month contract (the TV ‘downgrade’ means I have lost 40 odd channels – you’ve probably only heard of Sky 1, Sky Living and Syfy). I thought this deal was pretty good but wanted to check with my wife. She OK’ed it and I called back to proceed.
The lady could see this quoted deal but said on her system the unlimited phone would push up the price, not down. I told her I wanted it at the quoted price or I walk. She placed me on hold for 5 minutes while she spoke to her manager (I suspected this might have been salesmanship) and then put me through to the Cancellations department who “have access to the better discount codes”. Deal approved and almost £15 saved per month with an increase in beneficial services.
I think I could have pushed for an ever better deal by playing hardball and genuinely handing in my notice/getting disconnected, but I couldn’t be dealing with the aggro – esp. as we have a baby on its way (hopefully) this week. Sometimes, I feel Money Saving is a balance between your potential savings and how much effort you can afford to expend! Hope this is of some help.
Increasingly money-conscious

Having read all the advice about shopping around (I currently have Sky phone, fibre broadband and TV with movies), I checked out Virgin and, over 12 months, could save around £120. So, I phoned Sky to say I wanted to cancel, and they (in a very polite tone) advised that Virgin wasn't available in my area. D'oh!
Thankfully, the person I spoke to was lovely and didn't laugh - instead, she gave me a half price Fibre Broadband offer for 12 months saving me £120. Result!0 -

Far more honest , surely, to say you've seen such offers on the internet?0
