You make incorrect assertions,
Your post actually advised people to lie in order to get a deal!0 -
Edit: Please can you point me to where I advise people that they have to have excellent negotiation skills? You clearly misunderstood: I've listed things that might have a bearing on the deal you might get offered; one's ability to negotiate being one of these. Again, read what I've written...it CAN have a bearing on the deal you get, but, then, that's what we're doing here, isn't it? Helping each other out in preparation for that call to SKY?
Why respond to my subsequent post by editing an earlier post? That's not proper "discussion", surely, but trying to belittle my later contribution to the debate...0 -

You have said my approach actually puts people off seeking a deal. I think your advice that only people who aren't shy and have "excellent negotiating skills" get the best deals is far more likely to put (some) people off.
Again, you've twisted words to create a statement and ensuing argument that simply doesn't exist. I suggest, once again, that you go back and read the original sentences. If you genuinely feel that is the advice I have given, please, for the love of something, point it out to me.0 -

I responded to your ORIGINAL post. YOU decided to edit it whilst I was composing my response. You added an extra point to that post, I replied to it. It's not my fault, one iota. Take responsibilty for your own postings and stop playing the victim card. People edit posts, it happens, get over it.
I'm leaving this discussion now. It really is completely futile.0 -

Yes, you've failed to convince me that you have a point or that anything I've posted has been somehow "wrong" or inaccurate. However, it's hardly futile to state your opinion on a discussion board.0 -

What do you think good "negotiating skills" are? Walking away from a deal is one of the oldest ones in the book. I used it in every stall I visited in Beijing, that is for sure...
My wife cringes when she hears me talking to sales people or canellations people or the like. She is not in any way shy and in some circumstances more assertive than me, but while I treat it as a game, she feels the loyalty pings or whatever it is and never gets the deals I do.
It is a fact of life that some people will be better at getting what they want than others, whether that is because they are a better bluffer or because they are prepared to be cheeky or simply because they are genuinely prepared for the ultimate sanction, i.e. being cut off if that is what it takes.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

Ha ha ha, you have just tied your own noose.... I DID NOT advise anyone to lie, FACT.
I may have said I was going to say I received a 75% off flyer when I hadn't, but this is NOT advising other people to do the same. Now with your miss-truths and bad advice put firmly in their place, can we please move on.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

Did you accept any offer?
Jan turned to February and I soften my resolve to accept the 50%. Rang Sky on 1st Feb to accept their offer.0 -

Are you trying to tell me this is not dishonest and that my criticism of that action was "mis-truth" and "bad advice"?0
