I totally agree, Virgin seem to want to attract new customers but do not care about keeping us loyal ones. I also like Virgin, and will give them a ring to see what they might offer...and will also ring Sky for their prices
Did you managed to find out about the 30 days notice? being thick now but how would it work if you stil hae Virgin and Sky is installed using the same phone number? I also fancy Sky Atlantic which Virgin can`t offer!

Someone might reply soon about the 30 day notice. Are you getting your phone and Sky installed at the sametime? is it Sky that installs the phone line or BT?

Yes we are only because I choose that. I'm not sure about phone line I assume its BT.
  • 1 year Sky contract on 50% discount expired yesterday so time to make that call... not optimistic, but I'm looking to bundle in fibre aswell so lets see...
  • So thats me now cut off from my double multi-room, sports and movies package after 6 years with various upgrades and discounts etc.
35% offer on the package itself (Called about 3 days after notice given) rejected.
Quite an interesting situation in that I am prepared to pay either £50 or £0 but not £90 full price (roughly) or the £68 (roughly) via the phonecall.
Can I assume that Sky has "minimal costs" to support an account ?
I wonder what would be the business trigger to accept the £50 against £0 currently received.
I also would promise NOT TO TELL ANYONE.
The computer must have some set of algorithms
  • I find Sky really random. I'm on the 75% discount which is just about to expire (in fact I am just waiting for a call back to give my notice)

Last year best they could offer was 20%, then as soon as I left they were happy to give 75% and a new HD box. I think when I re-connected I spoke to the welcome back team IIRC who now appear to have more power than the retention team.

Anyway, after my call I will update this to see if they offered a better deal or I have left sky

have not long joined Sky and thought it was a reasonable deal but wow reading all the info you guys put out there I shall be much more gung ho when my contract ends. Can anyone help with this query - wanted to record a film yesterday, showed up in tv times schedules but wasn't there in sky listings when we tried to watch (was daytime film). Have also noticed this when we use catch-up - films don't seem to be listed when we look although they were on listings on the original day of showing. is this something sky is doing or just the tv channels themselves re-arranging their listings?

Left Sky to move to BT a couple of months ago - just had a letter from them offering 50% off TV to go back to them and half an hour later a phone call offering 75% off - so I'm now on Entertainment Extra TV only for £6.75/month, pretty happy because my crappy aerial is causing issues with BT Vision.

Can also upgrade to sports + movies for another £9.50 or something like that.

It is not uncommon for programmes advertised in magazines or newspapers to be changed by the time viewing day arrives, as the publishers have to be informed well in advance .

iPlayer and other catch up services do not contain all programmes that have been shown and sometimes the list they offer Sky is not the same as you can get on your computer. Also, programmes are often only available for a short while.
