  • My contract has recently run out with VM, I currently pay between £41 and £45 a month for M+ TV, 30mb BB and evening and weekend calls. I called customer services and they were unable to make any offer to me so I was put through to retentions. Again they were unable to offer me anything to make my package cheaper apart from downgrading my tv to M (free view). I therefore asked to cancel and my 30 days runs out on 10 December.

Sky have offered me entertainment extra, fibre optic broadband and anytime calls for £51 p/m for first 6 months and then £62 p/m for next 6 months.

My question is should I call back VM and just sign up with them again as tbh we're happy with the service we receive or is there any way I can negotiate with Sky to get their package down in price to make it more competitive? The TV package from Sky seems to offer a lot more but is it all worth it?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

    Cheers

    Dan
  • Sorry, it's probably too late by the time you read this but......

If you take the "Wowcher", you can get Sky for um.....
£10.75 for Original Bundle (just a few channels)
    £3.75 per month for Broadband
    £15.40 per month for landline

so all in all, £29.40 per month.

I is sorry, but as it stands, there's only an hour or so to get this deal...

  • Been on the phone to VM as contract up. Been offered:
    M phone - Free weekends
    30mb unlimited BB
    M+ TV
    for 36.99 per month

If we wanted a Tivo box we could get this for £25 installation.

I think this sounds good and is certainly better than what we are paying at the moment although she did tell me the prices are going up by £4.50 a month from February!

Just wondered how this compares to what others have been offered?

  • Sedge123 - We are on a similar deal to you. 30Mb Broadband (very reliable and fast enough for me) M Plus TV and M Phone

I've just been having a web chat with customer services and as at the end of contract I was offered £27.64 with DD payment but reducing TV to M package. When I mentioned about the forthcoming rise in Feb 2014 he said the bill would rise by £3 but offered £5 off for 6 months.

Doing the maths over the year that comes in at £328.68 or £27.39 a month over a 12 month period.

I'm thinking about it but it seems good value compared to whats on offer with VM.
  • Just phoned to cancel my Sky tv contract with offer that I got off her for 1/2 priceas it ends 31 days from today, told them I had been offered a better/cheaper deal with BT including phone and broadband. The guy said ok and cancelled contract for me ending on Dec 14th!!! What do you think the chances are of getting a call before this with a deal or should I just go with the BT offer they have at the mo?x:cool:

Sky will all ways do a deal to keep a customer just see how far you can push them
  • I recently called SKY to cancel or downgrade my package due to financial issues, I was 'persuaded' to actually upgrade for a lower price! Great I thought and went ahead. However, due to my financial circumstances I was unable to pay my bill and the service was restricted (only tv and was still left with some channels). I called sky after it had dragged on and arranged to go on to a payment plan of £20/month - my sky wouldn't be reinstated but I would still keep incoming calls to my phone. About 10 days after I had made this plan (I owed 3 months equalling £160) I got a phone call from SKY customer services offering to write the debt off COMPLETELY, reinstate my whole account and also lower my monthly charges!!! Can't say better than that!!!
  • After cancelling and contract ending can you phone up to reinstate movie package for example? Just thinking if they dont offer me a deal could I get movies for over christmas or doesnt it work that way would I then be tied in for a year? x

What do you mean? You can't get Sky Movies by itself anyway, you'd have to get at least the Entertainment pack also. Standard minimum price for Sky Movies is £37.50pm, or £53.25pm for Sky Movies HD.

Sky's existing customer deals don't usually enter you into a contract.

Is streaming Sky Movies via Now TV ( a Sky brand) a potential solution for you?

    Now TV Box £9.99
Sky Movies 30 day free trial available, then £8.99 per month (no commitment)
....and possible cashback if you go via cashback sites as well!

See the thread discussing the Now TV box at:

The Now TV box can also be purchased with a 3 month movies pass (£24.99 for box + 3 months movies pass) from several well-known retailers.
