I gave sky my notice around 3 weeks ago. I was offered around £3 off my current package, entertainment extra and sports £49. £3 off £49 is not a great deal so I said no thanks. In the last 2 weeks, sky have phoned everyday, while I was at work. On a weekend they called and when I answered the line went dead. I phoned up today and said I understand you have been trying to get in touch. Offered 50% for 6 months, no contract. I accepted. Also moving my phone and broadband to them due to BT price increase. They did nearly forget to give me fibre for £10 for 6 months until I reminded them!0

I canceled a month ago, it turns off tomorrow. I called today to say I had some missed calls and wanted to check whether there was an issue with my disconnection as I need to book appointment with Virgin.
They asked what I had been offered, I said £39 for Sports Package and £17.50 for 30mb Fibre. Sky immediately offered half price Ent Extra + and Sky Sports but I would have yo pay for HD so £32.50. I said for £6.50 more I get BT Sports with Virgin, so they said they'd credit me with £50. I said I'd do if they did me a deal on net. They said it was either TV or net discount. I said, I may as well go with Virgin then. And that was it. Not sure why, just bit bored really and could do with a break from net and TV.
Maybe in time I'll get some flyers offering net. Maybe I'm greedy but my mum canceled Sky ages ago and keeps getting 50% off everything including line rental and free net.0 -
Currently in the waiting game too. We cancelled last year and it was off for 3 months. Got a totally free offer at Xmas and they have rolled this over twice so that's been 10 months free for everything (no HD or multirooms mind you). Rang up to cancel again as it's a month till the last free rollover finishes and tried to get it free again but was pushing my luck. Best offer was 20% off which surprised me a little seeing I wanted it for free again. Even when I said possibly if you include free HD and a free Multiroom they still said no. So have given notice again and will see what they come up with in next 31 days :-)
I love this game now, but if worse comes to worse it just goes off. You certainly get the best offers at this point.0 -
Hi all,
I've been having a flick through this forum over last couple of days, it's always good to see what they're offering other users before you ring them. We have been with Sky for years and in that time we've had some really good offers from them including 6 months half price line rental, free HD for 6 months, discounts on main TV packages etc.
With utility prices being hiked, food prices increased and Sky adding an extra £1 to their line rental I finally decided to give them a call yesterday. Firstly, I think what they offer you really depends on who you speak to and to some degree what you say. I had a nice guy on Sky's end who understood that people are struggling and need to make cut backs on non essentials. I explained I didn't want to leave Sky but felt I really could get better else where (Talk Talk £2.50 broadband, pay 12 months line rental in advance works out at just £10.50 per month).
My current package is:
TV - Extra + Sky Sports £48.50 pm
Broadband - £7.50 pm
Line rental - £14.50 pm
Total £70.50pm
We rarely use the home phone for outgoing calls so on average an extra £5 a month is added to calls although most months it's pennies not pounds.
Yesterday Sky offered me a reduction on my broadband and line rental combined to £15 monthly (currently £22, £23 from December with the line rental increase). They have fixed this offer for a year for me, not in a tied contract and they said I would not need to pay line rental one year in advance to save me having a lump sum taken out of my a/c (something I had offered to do if it made it cheaper). I'm quite happy with a reduction of £7 a month (£8 from December) for next 12 months and Sky are happy as I'm still a customer.
My advice is if you are deliberating ringing, just do it. You don;t have to threaten you'll leave just explain what you can get else where at a more competitive price. If they don't offer anything of interest you can always phone back a few days later and try again.£10 a day challenge Jan: £163.31 / Feb: 151.61 / March: £163.43 / April: £142.84 / May £342.21 / June: £182.32 / £203.09
£10 a day challenge August: £30.70

Just ordered the 50% sky for a year deal through the site.
I did use a different email address with sky than the one I used to claim the code on, anyone aware if this will affect anything? I notice it says it is linked to the postcode but just want to be wary in case of any issues!
Hopefully all will be well as first installation date available is saturday so hoping for a speedy setup.0 -

Can anyone please advise/help?
I've never had anything like of Virgin/Sky etc, I currently just have broadband and phone so I will be a new customer.
Tomorrow I plan to ring both Sky and Virgin to get quotes for a package like this:
Unlimited phone, inc 0845, 0870, caller display
100 channels
30mb broadband fibre optic
There seems to be lots of extras which will bump up the cost, eg I want 3 hd boxes, maybe 2 TiVo boxes. What sort of things could I haggle over, eg increased broadband speed, free extra TiVo box?
It's a big step for me as I only pay £36 a month currently and I can see this going up to about £70-80 a month so I want to try and get the best deal possible.
Sorry for the long message, I have trawled through all the posts but could anyone give me a guide how best to approach, eg do I just first of all ask for tv and broadband and then agree phone also if the price is good enough? I would be really grateful, thanks.0 -
Does anyone have a tel no for Sky which isn't 0844, I'm not paying a premium rate number when I am looking to give them a sale. Just rang an 020 number but the operator refused to give me any other number.
Thanks0
