So my TV, BB and phone disconnected on Monday. They called me today and I decided to take their offer of Ent Extra +, Sky Sports, HD for £32.25 with no contract but deal on for 12 months. They wouldn't budge on the fibre or phone so will leave that off for now. May go with BT, even though it's expensive, that's offset by the fact you get BT Sports with them.0

so you were disconnected for all of 4 days, missing no Premier League matches?Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!
Mortgage free II: New Year's Eve 2013!
Mortgage free III: Est. Dec 2021...0 -

Hi
can I just ask how they called you if you had been cut off? Did they ring your mobile number? Its just we are in the same position where we have cancelled, we were waiting for a better deal than the 35% off the TV package they were offering us but it never came!
So now we are watching the freeview through the box, have no phone and the broadband is still available although i am unsure how (but im pleased).
Going to ring virgin today to get phone and bb through them. Although maybe its just me but their packages seem quite expensive for what you are getting!!
We were with sky for 12 years and i have to say im shocked at how poor their customer service is - constantly promising a call back at a certain time but never ringing, one advisor after our contract had been ended, told me that we were being fraudulent and would have all sky removed from our proprty if we tried it again (he spoke to me like rubbish) when i rang asking to take out the 50% off deal for new customers. he said we hadnt waited 12 mth after our contract had ended!! (I really didnt know you had to do that haha)
When I asked to speak to a supervisor who then came on the phone all nice saying that he could knock £10 off our package if we reinstated sky and then he would look at more deals for us and would ring me at 6 o clock - im still waiting for that phonecall too!!
yes, i prefer sky tv i really do but after the way they went on with us after 12 years, it has left a bad taste in our mouths and feel like we have been forced into going with virgin.
gosh sorry about the long rant :rotfl:0 -

Regardless, a 35% off deal is good and I don't know why you held out for more...0 -
We held out for more as we felt that 35% of the tv package only after 12 years of loyalty really wasnt alot considering what others have been offered!!
Anyway a new chapter has begun today as we have got the following from Virgin - due to be fitted next week
free installation, 60mb broadband, 500gb tivo box, XL tv package, extra hd box for another room, bt sport & espn, phone line with free calls at the weekend.
We are stuck in an 18 month contract but, spread over this time it works out at £46.01 per month as we got an £161.50 cashback offer plus 6 months half price.
Yes we would prefer sky tv (although im sure we will get used to virgin tv quickly) but after the way they spoke to us on the phone and didnt bother calling back, we are more than happy paying that price knowing that we now, are no longer hanging around waiting to see what sky may offer us in the future!!0 -
hello! just wanted to share my VICTORY over sky TV!:j:j having been a customer for 13 and a half years on the top whack package but not sky sports paying £1038 a year I decided enough was enough I wanted a deal! I have never tackled this type of thing before but decided what's the worst that could happen! so I rang up on Thursday saying I could no longer afford their package and was looking to switch to TalkTalk as they had the same offering just without sky Atlantic for half the price including unlimited BB and phone (identical to what we use) I asked if they could do anything to help me lower my bills and the very helpful man said he could only offer me multiroom for £2.50pcm and halfprice line rental @ £7.50pcm, I had been following the guidelines laid on MSE and was polite and used the keywords and phrases but didn't really get anywhere, he suggested I think about it for a few days and see what I think!
Today I decided to call them again this time I called through to cancellations and explained the whole thing all over again, the lady kept asking me questions about what we watched and what we used the internet for and asked me what the package was that I had seen! it was the talktalk tv/bb/phone package £10pcm for 6 months then £15.50pcm after with skymoves boost for £15pcm and entertainment extra boost for £15pcm (totalling £45.50pcm) all I would lose is sky atlantic, multiroom and HD and 3D, but id be saving almost £500 a year! she tried to blag it with me saying you wont get this and you wont get that but I stood my ground, she tried to get me to lower my package but I wasn't having it! she then put me on hold again and after she had looked at their package for herself (she told me she had looked at their offerings) she then matched their price! so I snapped her hand off!!
im now getting Sky entertainment extra+ with HD and sky movies (not in HD) sky talk weekend and unlimited broadband, on demand etc etc (we decided to lose the multiroom as we don't really use it) all for £45.85pcm or £550.20 a year, saving a massive £487.80
I did pay upfront for line rental which saved us as well but I would have had to do that to get the cheaper deal with TT. A Great victory for an existing customer! but I advise you do your homework and do be prepared to leave if that's what it takes!!:T:T0 -

It doesn't matter now but when I called to cancel over a month ago, I told them that I don't use the land line as there is no phone line plugged in (true) and only have it for internet so if they needed to call me with any issues regarding my disconnection, to call me mobile. Plus, I changed my settings on their website pointing to the mobile.0 -
Does Sky ever give up with sending promotional "come back to us" mailings?0
-
Am curious how many people had Virgin ringing back when they have cancelled?0
