I just got an amazing deal from sky following MSE tips
I got my 50% discount code but for some reason it didn't work and it gave me a number to ring instead. I spoke to a man at Sky that said they would honour the discount.
1. He gave me the 12 months 50% discount on Entertainment extra package.
2. He gave me the 6 months 50% discount on Fibre broadband.
3. He also gave me Free HDx Install , Free HDx Box for new Customers without HD, Free 6MHP DTV , Free activation, £50 Boots AFF Voucher Bundle, Free Sky Go and Free On Demand
4. Line rental at the equivalent of £9.95 a month locked in for 12 months if I pay £119.40 upfront as BT are putting the line rental up 04/12/2013
As I've paid the line rental separate it works out as £23.50 for 6 months then £33.50
Your post is a bit confused.
Did you get 12 months half price tv as stated in post 1 or 6 months half price tv as stated in post 3?
The rest is sadly true of offers that dis-loyalty gets you from Sky.0 -
4. isn't a deal, anyone can do that. I'm pretty sure the same applies for 3., unless I'm missing something. 1. is the deal you were going to get anyway (still good mind), which only leaves 2.
I don't think it falls into the 'amazing' category, but each to their own.0 -

Sorry I got 12 months 50% off the TV and 6 months 50% of the fibre broadband. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

Its amazing to me because the provider I was this before was charging me £33.20 a month and that was without the TV.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
virgin starter package is such a ripoff. 5 calls still not giving a decent offer. thinking of going to sky.0

Well, 1 week before my sky end date, I had the phone call yesterday and they offered me 25% off for a year (previously the offer was 20%). I said it was still too expensive and the offer went up to 35% off for a year with no contract. Not as good as the 50% I've had for the last year but still a pretty decent offer I felt so I agreed.
Moral of the story is to hang in there.0 -
My Sky contract had just expired so I phoned up to see if they could offer me a cheaper deal. The first lady I spoke to couldn't help so I asked to speak to the Cancellations department, and have now been offered a deal that saves me £13 a month. OK, so I had to sign up for another 12 months but I am happy with my current package so didn't mind0

Okay most my discounts are up from last year. I have Movies and Sports and 2 Multi-rooms so made it clear to the operator I am an all or nothing man.
Fair play to the lady from Livingston I believe she offered the best she could.
20% reduction on the package and 1 of the multirooms free of charge.
Politely declined and she told me it had been a grim Friday for inbound calls.
It turned out although my discounts are ending, my contract is not up till near end of November but she very helpfully processed my cancelation to the correct dates to avoid any further charges.
Now onto the usual game of cat and mouse.
PS when I analysed my current discounts their is something odd.
Perhaps someone can help.
My TV package is straight forward. It shows Package xxx £x.xx and then subscription discounted and a negative figure.
Both my multirooms appear the same. Charge £10.25 then discounted -£7.75.
It is the HD Pack Discounted that throws me. I dont get charged anything but then I get a discount of -£7.75 applied. Is this an error in my favour or just another way of discounting the TV package that includes HD already ?0 -
hi guys
i just wanted to share this with you.
my contact for 75% discount for 12 months with sky had just ended and i was faced with a wapping £64 per month bill. I have literally just come off the phone to them after telling them that i was planning to go to virgin media to take up their Student package plan of £32 per month. (Yes i am a mature full time student, but they dont need to check your details if you want to "Embellish on the truth so to speak!)
I told them that as much as i had enjoyed having the sky, i was simply no longer able to afford the package now it had gone up to £64 and that i was going to go to virgin on their TV XL PLAN at £32 for 9 month contract and that i wanted to cancel my sky subscription. They swiftly passed me across to a lovely lady who was very sympathetic and was able to "Wangel" a deal where i was upgraded to HD/3D, i gain 42 extra channels and all this for just £34 per month for 12 months!!!:T
Thanks to the advice of this site, i have managed to maintain a similar budget, and gained 42 extra channels!
Give it a go!!
good luck guys

9 days to go before sky is turned off and I got the call from them.
Why have you left, I answeered cost etc...
Was initially offered 25 then immediately 35% off.
Refused, but beginning to think I wont get a better offer.
Anyone else done this and its worked out that they will offer more?Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.0
