I am currently having hassle with virgin. I contacted sky last week and they offered me their 50% off deal. Spoke to virgin who offered to improve my broadband and give me a TiVo box for £62.40 . A man came and fitted the new TiVo today and only then did I find out that they had reduced my tv package to m from xl . I phoned to complain but they said that it would cost £ 12.00 to upgrade to xl. So I told them I was moving to sky. Is it worth contacting the complaints department to see if they can reinstate th xl.
Yes. You should kick up a fuss asap. It's not clear if you've agreed to a new contract. If you have, you have the cooling off period to tell them you've changed your mind, cancel the new contract and go elsewhere. If you've only agreed to an extension, then, from what you've written, they've changed your package (downgraded to m) without your agreement/knowledge. That, in itself, is a breach of the original contract. As per their t&cs, this gives you grounds to give the 30 days notice to leave...
Then you'll find out if they want to keep you and reinstate xl.

Moneyineptitude I used to be with Plusnet and had no problems and would have stayed with them, but I moved house and was quoted 6 weeks for broadband installation from everyone other than Virgin. Your comment was a bit rude, saying I only have myself to blame, when I signed up there was 10mb, 30mb and 100 mb options, they assured me in the shop the 30mb option was ideal for me. So that's what I chose, but their customer service is awful, I'm 40% deaf and you can only ever get assistance by calling someone and the recption to the advisers is awful at times. Once they have taken your money in the shop, they want nothing to do with you, which I did not realise.0

Just spoken with sky, told them i couldnt afford the £91 per month im payng, bloke offered me a a discount to £78 p/m. Told him i still couldnt afford it, he said thats the best he can offer so ive cancelled the lot, after being with sky for well over a decade i would have expected more. Lets see if i get the offer calls towards the end of the notice period. Any advice how to play it would be appreciated, dont really want to get rid of everything but after reading of others success im not going to pay £91.0

I used a half price code last year and got free installation.
I thought they offered standard installation free anyway.0 -
Hi
Sorry if this is a repeat post, I've searched for a bit without much success!
I was wondering what would happen if I cancelled my Sky package, (been a couple years), and then my partner, (who has a seperate bank account but lives at the same address), used a 50 pct code would they honour it? Or would they say "Sorry, we see what you did there and noooo way are you getting away with that sorta thing here matey".
Thanks for your time in replying.0 -

I just tried to cancel sky as I'm getting fed up with the increased prices all the time. I knew they would make me an offer, so I listened to what they said and they came up with £1.50 off sky tv, free broadband and half price sky talk line rental. I made this £32.75 a month but they added it up to £36.40! When I queried the extra, he just kept replying with that was what the computer was saying! It was like banging my head against a brick wall! So I cancelled and told them I was moving to TalkTalk. Has anyone else had this??0

I've just been offered Sky phone line with friends and family, unlimited internet and the basic sky tv package with the children package. He started at £49 (ithink) and I've got him down to £39. Is that a good deal? Thanks in advance x
Eta a new customer x0
