I cancelled. received no phone calls or offers other than when I was on th phone to cancel, was offered 20% off for 9 months. I was annoyed at the Groupon offer and as a existing customer wanted to get the same deal. I would of increased my package (I only had entertainment+) to include sports and movies if I thought I was getting value for money (i.e 50% off for 12 months). Well, will have to wait and see if they want to play ball, otherwise I'll go without. No bother.0

I have taken the advice posted on this thread and cancelled my Sky subscription last month, it is due to go off on 16th.
Today I have received a letter offering 50% off tv, sports and movies which I'm happy with as this makes it affordable.
I would like to add the documentary channels, don't want or need the kids channels does anybody have any advice as to what to say when I call them? Would they offer this at 50% off too?
Thanks0 -
Wheeler, did you get an email survey asking why you want to leave and a confirmation letter as well before you got the offer letter ?0

I'd ask 'em about the extra channels, cos at the end of the day you're upgrading your package = more money for them (kinda)0

Yes I got the cancellation letter dated 15th August which i believe is the date i cancelled and the email which I completed on 24th August.0

Whaddyaknow, I've just had a phone call (not due to be switched off for another 2 weeks too),
I was offered 50% off my channels for 12 months with no contract but she said she couldn't offer discount off HD or Sky Go Extra so it would be £43.75 per month.
I asked about a 2TB box and she said I could have one free with 25% off channels in a new 12 month contract. I took that because I want a 2TB box but don't want to pay anything up front.
Probably not the world's greatest deal but I'm happy, saved a few quid a month, no more storage issues and can easily sack off movies etc if I want as I'm not tied in to the channels, only the contract.0 -
i cancelled 21/8/13 and its due to be cut off 22/9/13. so far heard nothing, so i tried the trick mentioned above to phone to 'check when my cancellation date was' and they told me and said goodbye - didnt try to keep me.
should i assume they are happy for me to leave? i havent told OH that i went so far as to cancel and he might be a bit miffed if he cant access tv after 22nd sept!!!)

Hang on. I thought the same as you, but worst case scenario is that you ring them up the day before and stick it back on again if you're desperate for your telly!0
