I've just checked my sky account and the TV subscription has already to be scheduled to be removed in 31 days!!
I'm wondering if I was too convincing!
If you're not serious, then call them back and have your cancellation reversed.0 -

Ha i didn't know if this was a good deal . I've got a Scottish girl ringing me back tomorrow to offer a 2tb box for a one off payment of 49 pounds but shr will credit that off my bill.0 -
My 75% off expires on 22nd Sept. I've got full TV package, sports, movies, HD and multiroom. Haven't got phone or broadband with sky though.
The 75% off brought the bill down to £34ish per month.
I rang Customer Services on Sunday and explained to the guy that my offer is expiring and I wanted to cancel. He gave the usual guff asking if I would like to allow him to see if he could cut my bill. Fine go ahead I said. He asked if I used the HD, used multiroom, movies, etc yeah I wouldn't have them if I didn't use them. Do you enjoy the service? Yes. So the only reason you want to cancel is because the offer is expiring? Yes.
OK he said i'll put you on hold and see what we can do. Five minutes on hold then he came back and said he could do the 75% off for another 12 months with my new payment being £35 odd due to the increase in subscription costs for the various packages. I bit his hand off - yes please i'll have a bit of that thankyou very much. You will pay a reduced amount next month sir as you have paid more this month due to part of the month being at full cost - Is that OK sir? Yes thats great.
Easy as anything - didn't even get put through to retentions team to get this deal.0 -
What people need to realise is that you should not give in if you get a rubbish offer for retention. At the moment they are offering 75% off. If you get anything less, say no thank you, ask when your current payment covers you to and then ask them to cancel it from that date. What you do then is, phone up one day before you are meant to be cut off and say you are confirming that its going to get cut off as you don't want unnecessary payments to go out and they will come back with an offer better then before.
Hence I got entertainment extra +, movies & sports in hd for £20.75 for 12 months.0 -
I currently only have Sky TV.
I called today to give notice to cancel, said I was thinking of going to freeview, the guy said he could only offer £5 per month discount if I just still had the TV.
I asked what if I got BB and phone too, and he offered me -
Free phone (weekend)
BB unlimited half price at £3.75 for 12thms
Half price line rental @ £7.25.
Inc the TV I already have (Entertainment Extra) he quoted me £43 per month for all 3.
He said if I wanted Sports & movies it would be £72.25 per month (which sounds steep to me going by deals on here).
I said I'd think about it.. what do you think?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Got a letter today from sky offering 50% off by calling 08442 411 257. Used say no and called another number. Got put thru to cancellations and said I'd like to refuse the offer and confirmed last date for tv. Was told this and not offed anything to stay. Should I have dialled the 08442 number instead?.0

Thanks. Guess its just a waiting game to see if they want to offer better. I don't necessarily need multi room, sure I could watch the free channels in my room, the HD whilst great, meh I can live without. Actually I need to get used to basic tv haha. I have free view built into my tv, but Im guessing the sky box which will turn into free view has the same channels?0
