Result after much perseverance I got entertainment extra plus all hd channels and the sports in HD for 50 quid a month so basically knocked 16 pounds off my monthly bill along with all channels and hd and best of all im still not in contact with sky. The 50 includes sky unlimited broadband anytime calls and land line as well.
  • I've just come to the end of my 75% off offer and called cancellations straight up, they asked why I wanted to cancel, told them the only reason I took up sky was the deal. They offered my 50% for 6 months, told them to shove it as I just heard one of his colleagues offer 75% off to another customer. He didn't have anything to say. I get cut off tomorrow, and each year I have been cut off I've had a letter asking me to come back with 75% off offer. I'm not going to give in to these big companies, its not like I am desperate to watch sky. I asked them why they also increasing prices? They said its because they increasing the way you can watch sky, I came back with, I didn't ask for these services and secondly, they've lost the football to BT, so its rubbish for them to increase prices. Advisor was schtum!

As per above, phoned sky to confirm I was being cut off and I was not going to get charged £50 or whatever. Advisor I spoke to was really good. Not only did I get another 75% off for 12 months. I got sports included and all I pay is £20.75 a month.

75% OFF with sky sports hard to believe that.

Rang Sky this evening and did the usual drill of wanting to cancel. This time round I couldn't care whether it stays or goes. Had it free for the alst 6 months and they have extended that again for another 6 months from today. So basically I am only paying for Sky Go extra and HD which are both on offer for a fiver in total. Honestly if they had told me there wasn't any offers I wouldn't have cared and still gone ahead with the cancellation, I have a wedding to pay for.

I agree, it`s got to the point now that I don`t really care if it stays or goes. These continual price hikes are frustrating. Sure I do watch some Sky so would prefer to keep it but there are so many other options out there now, netflix, love film, freeview, freesat....downloading :\ Also mini TV box things (gives all channels free illegally)....which I don`t recommend although apparently are quite common now.
    Sky? pfffft whatever.

Don't do that, you'll put yourself at risk. Most of us know that the 75% offers are real.

My 75% offer was in to its last month so I phoned to just check that it would go back to full price, and if so, to cancel. Was straight away offered 50% for 12 months which I declined. After having a 75% off deal I was only willing to pay the same again or cancel - there's more to life than TV! Anyway, was then offered the 75% off deal for 12 months to stay - that's the full Entertainment Extra Plus / Sports / Movies package for £14 per month, or £24.50 with the HD channels which I had before, and so kept.

It's a great deal and although it is a total luxury, decided to go for it again for 12 months. Sky still get nearly £300 out of me for the year which they wouldn't have got without the offer, so everyone wins.

But, the point does need to be made, like it has been from many posters on here, you must be willing to cancel and live without it if you want to be given a good deal. As I said, I could happily live without it and when offered the initial 50% just told the operative (who was extremely helpful and polite, by the way) to go ahead and cancel - no iffs or buts! You do need to be willing to actually go through with the cancellation. Before my last 75% deal, we lived happily without Sky for a few months. Well, I say happily, but you do miss the 'Plus' features for a little while!

    Cheers.
