  • We had everything HD, multi-room, movies, sports, phone, broadband. We cancelled broadband & phone and moved to EE, changed our package to just the basic package £21.50. We've had no offers of 50% or 75% so have done it and changed, heard nothing from them and that was 3 weeks ago.

I think it depends if there is any competition in your area, where I live we can't even get a good Freeview signal & don't have cable, so its SKY or nothing.............

I will continue to wait to see if SKY give us a better offer!!!!!

If you are on the basic Tv package only then there is less incentive to offer you anything compared to someone has the triple play.

The more revenue you give them, the more keen they will be to keep you - even at 50% or 75% off.
  • I phoned to cancel a week or so ago, switches off at the end of the month, I had pretty much full package with sports and movies, and I told the advisor I was looking to transfer my phone and broadband as I already a MAC ready to use, but only got offered 20% off for a bit. Since then, I've had a 'where did we go wrong' email, and a confirmation letter about the switch off. Nothing else doing ...

    Yes. See above posts.
  • Followed this thread as a lurker, and also followed the advice.

Rang up, cancelled, declined the poor offers
Sat through notice period, got rang a few times, still no decent offers.
Actually went through with cancellation, coped pretty well by using a months free netflix

Got sky letter today offering 50% off for 12 months, interestingly they still say to ring if the offer isn't for you to see what else they can do...

Moral is, you have to be prepared to go through with the cancellation, it's been said many times on this topic and it is completely accurate.

If you cancel Sky you will end up with a 'Freesat by Sky' box, not to be confused with 'Freesat'.

Both are non subscription, although if you want sky+ features you will need to pay £10 a month.

    ---

Quick update, changed over from the Sky box to a Freesat+ box last weekend, takes some time to get used to, but it will save money in the long-run.

What channels do you get with a 'Freesat by Sky' box? Is it the same as freeview?
