I`m moving house in the next 2 months, anybody ever tried saying they plan to cancel Sky (my current discount ends tomo) and re-sign up again in their wife/partner`s name from the new adress to take advantage of the far superior `new` customer offers?
I`m planning on calling today but just wondered how other people have got on in the same situation. I wonder if I`ll get a descent offer, although probably another 12 month contract, to prevent me from cancelling my current account.
Cheers.
I did this when we moved 4 years ago. Sky wanted to charge us a moving fee, so we cancelled and then signed up to a new package in my wife's name. We got free connection and the other usual new customer deal.
Apart from the small hassle of having to set up a new account, it gave great satisfaction to cancel!0 -
Just found this thread and I'm hoping you can help...
we currently are with Talk Talk for phone £114 p/a, £19 p/m for broadband + international calls, £23.50 for Sky
The problem is that TalkTalk are the only LLU provider where we live, so we have to use them for broadband (can't move it all to Sky as dh needs the zippy broadband for work)
The question is: does anyone know if we can get a better deal by moving the TV somewhere else? We only watch a couple of shows on Sky and the kids watch cartoons.Without Sky we could probably buy the box sets on Amazon and sell it again or even use netflix...
sorry for the long post!
Any advice is very welcome0 -
Had a phone call from Sky a couple of days ago wanting to go through my account and see whether there were any new offers. Usually I would tell them I was busy but went with it this time and so glad I did!
After finding out my last offer was due to end (half price line rental and previous offer of £1 line rental for a year after calling cancellation), she offered several offers on Sports, Movies etc which I refused. She then offered one last deal, upgrade to Entertainment Plus package (Pretty much everything but Sports and Movies) plus all HD channels for 12 months no extra cost.
After confirming that it would be at no extra cost (still paying £21.50 for TV package) I agreed to the offer. Only catch is we are tied in to a new 12 month contract but we can only get Sky here anyway and freeview is poor quality so we had no intention of leaving anyway.
Its nice to have them ring us for a change with offers and not have to phone them asking instead0 -
Hi, we've given sky out notice and due to be cut off next week. I had a phone call offering me either 6 months free or 12 months half price no contract but would have to pay £10 for HD in either case. Alternatively HD is included if I sign up for 12 month contract. Does anyone know, if I sign up for 6 months free and threaten to leave again am likely to get another discount or shall I take the safe option of 12 months half price?
Thanks0 -
Phoned up Sky to give my notice for the end of my 50% off offer, received the odd relatively derisory offer and some completely unnecessary comments about how (paraphrasing) 'other providers will mislead unlike us so be extra careful before signing up with anyone else'. Naturally I told them to do one, so we'll see if they come back with anything sensible in the next couple of weeks.0

I rang Sky yesterday to try and negotiate a better deal. We currently take TV, phone line and Bband with them and we're out of contract. Current monthly bill is £54.
Sky there and then offered to reduce the bill to £40 pm for the next 12 months, which would tie us into another 12 month contract.
I politely declined and put our entire account on 31 days notice. They didn't make any improved offer at that stage, but I guess we'll see if they come back and improve the offer nearer to the final cut-off.
Last year I called them for my MAC code as I was going to move our bband. They then cut our line rental to £1 a month, so we stayed. Maybe they will view us as perennial price-tarts, and decide they can live without us!!0 -

Join the club, because I must be one of them as well. As I've said previously, I'm on my third offer at the moment (Sky World plus HD for £35pm for 12 months). When it expires at the end of May, I'll ring them and tell them I'm cancelling as the full rate is too expensive (I'm a pensioner). I will see if they offer anything. Last time they didn't but then rang me as my notice period was finishing, saying it was a courtesy call, etc, etc, and offered the deal.
If they don't offer anything and I have to leave, then so be it, I will. But I know if I do, I will get an offer at some time. They would rather have my £35 a month than nothing."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Has anyone successfully had cashback for Sky?
I was going to go through Topcashback, but under the merchant notes it says -Excludes existing Sky+HD/HD households. Further terms apply, see Sky.com for details.
I currently have their Sky+HD box, so would that exclude me?
Kind of contradicting itself as it's in the 'Existing customers' section
