During my last move they told me as I had moved to a new address I did not have to fulfil my 18 month contract for the phone/broadband and I wonder if it also applies to TV.0

I had a couple of deals on my account, when I upgraded to HD.
I had free multiroom, 20% off tv & discounted line rental.0 -
Called yesterday as my 6 month 25% off deal for Entertainment Extra and sky sports ended. The girl put me on hold for a good few minutes and came back with 20% off for 9 months. Bill was at £35 ish, then would have gone up to £49 but now back down at £38 until June. Happy enough with that and no new contract. Can cancel at any time.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)
Estimated MFD - [STRIKE]Sept 2039[/STRIKE], April 2031 (in progress!)0 -
If they'd offered me a similar deal I would have taken it. But a £30 increase with a new baby on the way is hard to take.
Still, I'm hoping I'll be offered a better deal before the cut off date.0 -
Called yesterday as my 75% off for 12 months was due to end.
I was hoping for 50% of for 12 months guy put me on hold and came back with another 75% off for another 12 months.
Very please with that although when I got the 75% off last year I had actually cancelled and went through with it, the Sky was only off for about 3 weeks before I got an offer through the post.0 -

Here's what I was paying with virgin:
M TV
Mela channel pack
V HD box
Talk weekends
20mb BB
£44.64 a month!
I gave my cancellation notice and told them I was moving to Sky. I actually called Sky to see their options and was immediately offered £50 per month for 10-17mb BB, talk evenings & weekends, and ALL sky channels (including movies & sport) for £50 p/m, 12 month contract!
That was a pretty good deal, but Sky cannot offer any discounts on the Asian channels (which I get with Virgin as part of the mela channel package), so it would have added an extra £15-£20 to my monthly bill. Let Sky call up virgin to port my landline number to show I meant business, but gave myself 30 days to cancel & haggle with Virgin. With only less than a week till disconnection, I rang up retentions to see what was on offer.
An hour (!) spent talking to an extremely friendly young lady (whose family life was getting her down) resulted in my current package costing £30.40 per month (I took line rental saver as part of the deal). A credit of £77-ish was also applied to my account by the lovely young lady who said "you wont have to pay your bill for a few months, mr ashnojutsu":D
Golden rule is never give up, never take what you are offered first time, and always be nice to the person on the other end of the line - you want to them to feel like helping you, not hate you :kisses3:0 -
I cancelled my Sky contract a few weeks back and the service is due to get cut off next week. This was only a ploy to get a cheaper deal but I haven't had any offers through yet.. We rent and can't have Virgin installed so am starting to panic a bit.. Do I phone them or just sit tight?
I'm on the XL package and pay £105 per month. They did offer a £20/month discount on cancelling but I thought I could do better! We're a family of 4 so all the channels get used at some point each month so downgrading would only annoy someone. Any suggestions? In urgent need of a large lottery win...0 -

I didn't know Sky did an XL package."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
