I cancelled my TV a few months back (just the basic package)
Still had the phone and internet with them though - phoned to cancel it as I was missing my TV so was mvoing to Talk Talk and you view
Was paying £23 for phone and internet - (including anytime and international calls) - and am now paying £30 and have my sky TV back!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Rang to cancel sky today and had to spend 25 minutes going through a whole host of poor reasons I shouldn't cancel. All I was offered was £8 off £53 a month just for tv. No thanks.
Hope it improves during the next month!0 -
Me too today. I was offered 20% off for 8 months, like some others have mentioned, so I cancelled. I've been a customer for several years with the full package. Bloke next door gets 50% off, and I'd already mentioned that I wanted to take my phone line and broadband over to Sky, but the existing customer offers aren't applicable to me with my package. If you add sports, you get 12 months free broadband. If you add HD, you get a 2TB box for £49. I've already got sports and HD so I don't get these offers. Oh, and if you're a new customer, you get 12 months half price off the whole lot and a £25 voucher. Awaiting a deal phone call / email over the next few weeks, if I don't get one I'll cancel and open a new contract in the wife's name, if that doesn't work then I'll reinstate my account - no lose situation I reckon.0

Sometimes you have to play hard-ball and give your notice to cancel.
Please note the HD pack is no longer available, so if you lose that you have to get Ents Extra + (new contract) and lose F1 [unless you pay for sport]0 -
I actually cancelled Sky in July after serving them the notice in June. They offered me nothing worth taking at that time. I asked for half price for a year but they said they don't do that sort of deal.
It is now 5 weeks since I cancelled. I've been away for the last 3 weeks and on arriving home there was a letter from sky offering me....... half price for a year.
My advice is that, if you are serious about obtaining this level of discount, don't just say you are thinking of leaving but actually serve notice and be prepared to actually do so too. I might have been lucky in that I was away for 3 of the 5 weeks without Sky but the timing has worked really well from my point of view.0 -
First time posting. Husband pays £54 a month which includes sports and movies (all the Sky package). We only have the ordinary silver Sky box, nothing fancy. Just the tv, no broadband or phone. (We have just renewed our phone and broadband subscription with BT and have got a good deal, so don't want to change that.) He's been with them since approximately 1996.
I want to telephone them and threaten to leave if we don't get a reduction but, he won't let me just in case they accept. My question is:
Is that what other people pay? and
Any suggestions as to how to get a reduction would be much appreciated.0 -
are you still within the minimum term of you contract ?
if you are, this limits your options. If not, then you can contact retentions, say your leaving and see what they offer. you dont have to go through with leaving them, although sometimes the best deals dont come until you do actual leave0 -
The best way to get a deal is to cancel and go through with it HTH0

Sorry if this has been covered, but I did search.
I'm paying for EE at £24.50 (the september rate). I found this out after getting a leaflet through the door stating EE was £32.
Ive seen on here that there is a price freeze for all customers who were swapped when they moved the 6 individual packages to 2.
I'm out of contract. Is it worth calling to haggle? Or am I going to end up worse off? I've seen a few say about loosing HD packages when haggling. We never paid for them but want to check I'm not about to end up worse off in some way.
I'm going to call them anyway in a mo to haggle the broadband. Am I right in thinking that wont effect the TV?
