    Hi Deanos,

Do you mind me asking, what point did you get that email? Was it within the 31 days notice or after you were cut off? If it was after, how long were you cut off for?

    Thanks

I genuinely am moving house so I called Virgin saying I was going to switch to Sky when I moved and straight away they said they would match Sky's offer.

So Virgin were going to offer me:
    30mb broadband
    Talk Unlimited Extra phone
    Basic TV
    Free wifi hub
    free set up & installation

    for £24.50 per month.

Then I found out that they cant offer any services at all at the address I am moving to!! :( So I have booked my disconnection for one month.

Can anyone recommend any good option for broadband & landline phone, or even Broadband and a good mobile deal with minutes included?

I keep hearing that Sky's broadband is really slow?? I'm not really bothered about the TV, I might just get a freeview box as I dont watch much TV.

    Thanks in advance. x

Which provider you go with has little bearing on speed, it's more what service you want. ADSL is up to 8 Mbps, ADSL2+ is up to 24 Mbps, FTTC is 40 or 80 Mbps right now. Use SamKnows to find the estimated speeds at your address and compare to what you want.

I received the "customer survey" yesterday.

Mutley, do a search to see what is available in your area for prices, some of the good deals might be out of reach if it's a 'old' exchange with only BT equipment in

    Would appreciate some other opinions...

Was doing a reconciliation of our spends and quite horrified at the amount our TV/BB/Phone costs. Did a quick tally and its easily £100/m (across BT for BB and Phone and Sky for TV). Cos of our location we can only consider Sky and BT and don't necessarily want to cancel BT.

So, after seeing the options available with BT Vision, I rung Sky and said we were considering reducing our costs by moving to BT Vision. Spoke to quite a rude chap who effectively said that if I was prepared to pay less for less then there was nothing he could do (I did tell him several times that we didn't want to leave sky, but couldn't afford it any more). I asked to speak to someone to cancel the account, at which point I was put on hold for a good few minutes.
When I was taken off hold, I heard him telling someone else what we'd discussed and what I'd asked for - not too sure if this was an accident, or if he actually took me off hold before transfering me - before telling me to hold again and then cutting me off!

Now this really riled me, to the point where if I hadn't had to wait for several minutes to be connected in the first place I would have rung straight back and cancelled regardless; but I thought better of it and have decided to let it simmer first!

So - couple of queries; are there really no deals to be had by this route any more (read a few posts and seems it could be the case) or should I speak to the next person in the process (seems this is the place to go) or should I be waiting for a call back? I would expect an apology for their shoddy telephone manner in the first place!

Ironically, whilst I'm doing this to see if Sky can give me a bit of a discount I actually don't mind leaving and going to BT, so through their actions they may have lost themselves a customer!

Cancel and then wait for them to call

  • We received a letter from Sky at the end of July saying our TV package would go up by £3.50 pm wef 1st Sept, as we have the full sport & entertainment package, two HD boxes-multi room etc, this would make our monthly fee £78.50! We decided enough was enough so I phoned today to cancel. Within 4 minutes I had been offered & accepted a new price of £50pm for a year, keeping everything we already have! (I was told that was the basic package at 50% plus our extras). Think this was a good deal considering there was no suggestion of 'downgrading' and we can still ring and cancel it at anytime! Having said this, the CS assistant did point out hat we'd been with Sky for 11 years! :o

Hi all, I was hoping for a bit of advice!

I am currently paying out £106.74 for everything from VM. I get Talk Unlimited, Movies & Sports (HD), XL Tv package, XXL Broadband, additional V Box, TIVO etc

They give me a minute £10 month loyalty discount within that.

I rang up today to see what they could do, saying sky were offering £100 voucher and 6 months at 50% and free broadband and a galaxy tablet, I even told her that VM were advertising £100 voucher to new customers and 6months at half price.......

she offered me another £10 off a month. I said I would think about it, but am I being greedy here thinking I could get more off? I explained about the Sky offers but she simply said as an existing customer I am not entitled to it!

Should I be looking to go to Sky or does anyone have a similar package with a better deal?
