Cancelled Sky last monday, got a phonecall today offering 12 months half price TV. I pointed out that £16 was still a lot of money when we only really watch 1 channel and he came straight back and offered to change the deal to 6 months free. He had absolutely no problem adding in movies and sport to that too, the only thing we have to pay for is HD but we already have that discounted to £2.50 until January0

Rang Sky today to cancel our TV, Line Rental and Broadband, currently paying £48.50 per month.
Offered Entertainment Extra, Line Rental and Unlimited Broadband for £30 per month for the next 12 months.
Needless to say this was accepted with a smile:)0 -

Hi everyone, I've been out of the game for a while...
The grandma has been paying 39.40 since 2009 for:
BT BB (10GB limit), 18.85 !!!!
Vision (old bt vision box), 4.99
and phone (unlimited evening and weekend). 15.45
Called up cancellations today offered 35.20 for the same package but with unlimited internet. Pushed hard for the new YouView box which the advisor said wasn't possible unless we pay a 50 pounds TV reactivation fee. He said I could speak to technical to complain about the old router and vision box, but, its not guaranteed we get them.
So 39.40 to 35.20 with unlimited BB. Sounds like a weak offer. I told them we will go ahead and cancel - we aren't, however, looking to cancel.
May I ask your opinions please?0 -
Which? magazine for August has an article on 'how to cut costs & bag a bargain bundle' - tv, phone & broadband deals, 'how to haggle & get a great deal' type of thing.
it doesn't really give any great insight & covers pretty much what's discussed on here. useful for anyone that's never considered trying to haggle i suppose, but no real revelations for us seasoned bargain hunters!
if you were thinking of calling your provider to try & get a deal, it might be best to do it sooner rather than later as this will inevitably be pushed in the media very soon...
for the first time, i'm actually going to go thru with the cancellation scenario to see what's offered. we've been with sky over 12 years & we're paying just under £100 per month now, so i can only hope that they'll want to keep us as a customer!0 -
Hi I started the cancellation process with Sky - its due to go off 4th August. Ive not received any phone calls from them, only a letter saying they're sorry to see us leaving.......Am I pushing my luck with 'expecting' a phone call from them to keep us before the cut-off??Opinions are like ar*eholes - everybody has one!!!!0

My Sky box (non-recording) is finally giving up the ghost. I use it with an original TiVo upgraded to 1.5Tb of storage and still working fine.
I'm on Entertainment Extra. I've never had a recording box from Sky so I thought I'd call and find out what I could get.
Obviously it would make sense to get a box with decent storage, but I also wanted to pay less.
I had 2 half hour conversations with them. On the first I was put on hold "for a minute" and gave up after 10 mins listening to music at 5p per minute.
Despite saying I wanted to pay LESS, the second adviser kept offering me deals to INCREASE my monthly spend by between £5 and £10.
Despite mentioning the MSE half price deals ("they are nothing to do with Sky" they lied) the best deal I could get was £20 per month and a free standard box.
I really want a 2Tb box and even offered to pay the £49 upgrade fee for it but no dice.
So I decided to cancel. Whereupon I was told "If you cancel you can't re-sign with Sky for 18 months." This carefully worded threat really got my back up. Note use of the word "re-sign" as opposed to reconnect. No mention of "just call up and we'll reconnect you".
A couple of days later I received 2 letters, one confirming the cancellation, and asking "is there anything we can do?" the other informing me of the forthcoming price increase!
With my new 1Gb broadband connection (yes that is correct), if I can't get a decent deal from them I don't think I'll miss Sky at all. Let's see if I get a half price offer...0 -
i fear i maybe too late on this already, on the phone to sky now, just been told there's a 5 min queue for cancellations!0

I cancelled by email using the link on their website; that was two days ago. Got a call yesterday (when I was at work) which the other half didn't pick up. I am actually cancelling so if there's zero on offer, makes no difference to me. The only problem I have is that I have 'become' a Sky BB customer by virtue of O2 selling their business. Since my bill is currently £0 for unlimited BB (until March 2014) I am fine for now. Obviously come March it's a whole different story!0
