I called up sky to cancel my tv as I was nearing the end of my contract, they offered me phone, broadband and TV for £30 a month, but I declined and proceeded with the cancellation. 1 week later I got a call from sky with the offer of an even better deal: £21 a month, so I took it out, but this didn't include HD.
I then complained to sky as I could not access on demand shows like the sopranos, so they gave me free HD tv for 6 months, so I was paying £16.25 for all 3 services, I then upgraded to sports and movies for free as it was part of my free tv deal.
If you're near the end of your contract don't take the first deal sky offer you, they have another team who do follow up calls with better offers.0 -
does anyone have a number for talktalk sales - they have a good deal on right now, just wondering if anyone has managed to negotiate anything cheaper? they don't seem keen to speak to new customers as far as I can see on their site, they'd rather you do it all online
can anyone help?0 -
Sky called me today and offered my 12 months half price for everything but HD. Told them still to cancel they have now given me 6 months free but I have to pay for HD. She told me to ring the broadband and phone people to see if they can give me a good offer.I would like to be a glow-worm.

Just phoned sky to try and get a discount, as a customer of 12 years with HDTV, tv, movies and broadband paying about £70 per month, I thought I would see what I could get especially as new customers get some great deals. Half price line rental plus an extra £2.50 a month, £9.75 in total all I was offered. Hello virgin.....0

Made a phone call this evening to cancel the HD (we got it free for a year and didn't realise we hit the 13 month mark until we got the bill this month). The chap on the other end of the line, along with cancelling the HD, gave me half price line rental for 12 months, Sky movies free for 6 months, then 50% after the 6 months, and sky sports free for a year.
I am really rather chuffed with this
No threats to leave sky or anything, all I did was ask to cancel my HD- Total Debt :£190,000 - Mortgage
- Owed: £9000 Virgin Atlantic American Express
- Owed: £9000 Tesco Clubcard Mastercard
- Owed: £5500 Barclaycard Platinum
- Owed: £1800 - Car Payments
- Debt Free Date : May 2050

Pay over £90 per month to SKY. Phoned them to try and reduce bill, they said they would give me free broadband for 12 mths saving a whopping £7.50 per month! Hello snide box!0

I managed to get my package half price for 12 months, 2nd multiroom free for 12 months with a sky+hd box and installation also free. I already have sky+hd in the livingroom and multiroom in my bedroom so dd will be over the moon to have sky+hd in her room. I did enter into a new 12 month contract by taking out the second multiroom but I don't live in a cabled area so it's not like there is any competition to tempt me away from sky.0

I've had no luck from Sky at all with any big discounts.
Am on the entertainment extra with hd pack and pay approx £36 per month. OH's daughter has just signed up and is getting all that for around £15 per month, half what I'm paying. Tried appealing to Sky's better nature but the best they could offer was 10% off, not too impressive!!!
To be honest, we only tend to watch a core set of channels most if not all of which are available on Freeview. It's just nice to have the option of the other channels just in case something is on.
Was looking at BT Vision as we have infinity already. It looks like they have some extra channels above and beyond normal freeview e.g. Fox, GOLD etc. Has anyone here got BT Vision already? Is it any good?
Thanks
