Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

I think you've just proved – or at least illustrated – my point.
Sky loses less than £130 a year by discounting our tariff and it keeps us as subscribers.
How much would Sky lose by discounting yours by 50% ? A lot more.
Given how much Sky would lose by discounting yours, they're not going to just cave in at the first stage. They will wait to see if you really are serious about being prepared to do without Sky and duly go through with your cancellation or whether, instead, you are just bluffing in an attempt to blag a discount and will withdraw your cancellation at the last moment. Wouldn't you do the same, if you were Sky?
They will look at how much you've been prepared to spend on Sky for the last 15 years and figure you're going to feel mightily deprived when you lose all those channels and can't even watch all the programmes you've recorded and are sitting on the hard drive of your box.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

Tried the 50% off code thing
Used code provided on sky.com link
Gave me error - "We do not recognise the offer associated with the code you've entered. Please check that you have entered the offer code correctly."
Redid it - same code - same result........
Is this a marketing con - methinks it is...0 -
Hi 21Twinkle,
Not a Marketing con, I used it this morning, got Sky with entertainment extra and sky sports for £23.75. very happy with that.
Getting installed next week!
Perhaps the codes have run out, there was only a limited number (I got mine about 7am this morning)0 -
After reading about haggling with Sky I asked about my subscription and have got a good deal. My last payment was over £60, after my phone call to Sky I am now going to pay under £35 a month. I am now tied in for 12 months, but with almost 50% off per month what did I have to lose.0

When down the road of putting my cancellation in and since had a call from Sky offering me Sky Entertainment Extra HD, Unlimited Broadband, Free Evening & Weekend Calls and Line rental for bang on £35 a month.
Think its called the Youview Buster deal as I said I was looking to move to BT.
Seem a fair deal or is there better to hang on for?0 -

No - I got the code OK - It is the next stage that fails (sky.com)
it was 13 digits and the sky.com page only wants 10 digits - I tried knocking 3 of either end - no good - shame - still Sky's loss = BT's gain !!0 -
Hi guys,
If anyone is having problems with the Sky 50% please PM me with your email address, postcode and Sky code, and I will look into your problems.
Many thanks,

Our monthy sky bill is over £90 per mth as we have broadband, phone and all channels plus multi room and hd. After cancelling movies, sports and hd 3 weeks ago, had a call yesterday offering hd for £2.50 per mth instead of £10. Operator couldn't offer any more discounts he said and that I should call sales as they might have some offers - I didnt bother....
Regarding the comment earlier about being in a cabled area, we are not so that is probably why we are not being offered any more discounts me thinks!!! ..........0 -
trying to take up the sky offer but just getting blank screen when proceeding with order!!!!0
