I've spent a lot of time trying to get my package reduced on the basis of the current competitive offers and, after much discussion,I have managed to get 1/2 price Sports from Sky for the next 6 months,a competitive reaction to BT etc...
So £21 per month for Sky Sports now becomes £10.50 which is not only a good saving but actually great value.
Well done Sky but we'll be back again in the New Year!

What did you say to get that? Are you paying full price for line-rental or broadband?
  • I understand that the recording functions stop working on your Sky box if you cancel.

Does the bbc iplayer , ITV player, 4OD and Demand 5 stop working as well ?

Oh thanks - do you know how much roughly this is!

...usually a cease fee between £20 to £30 is charged for a disconnection of ADSL.My ISP would charge £25 -sorry,don't know Sky's policy.:)

Sky called my bluff on cancelling sports about 7 weeks ago leaving me sportless. I`m on a 20% off deal at the moment which runs til September.
Anyone think it`s worth me phoning up tryin to strike a deal/get sports back (using BT Sport as a barganing chip) or should I wait till my deal runs out?

    Cheers

You can try but with the new football season not far off I doubt they need to do much to encourage the majority back. They always seem to be doing the £5 account credit for adding Sports online. Not much, but if you're adding it back it's better than nothing.

I buckled, was on the phone for nearly 45 mins! Told them I wanted to cancel my Sky due to financial reasons. Chatted with the guy about alternatives, cancelling movies etc and was finally offered 25% off for 6 months. Declined this and was asked exactly why I called up and what it was I wanted!? told him 50% off and HD or entertainment extra+....not a chance "these are special offers only availble for limited periods of time only and are one off offers given out once per customer".
Told I`d be £5 extra for entertainment extra+ and another £5.25 for HD movies and sport.
Declined offer but never cancelled, asked him to leave offer open on account while I thought about it.
P.S I only have Sky TV, which I`ve been with for 6 years (had a 20% offer for last 18 months), and no Sky line rental or broadband.

Tried to cancel SKY via email but couldn't (long story). I've only got the Entertainment Extra package, nothing else. Eventually had to ring them up to cancel.. Had a bit of a chat with a chap from cancellations for a while and he offered me it a £12/month for a year. I snapped his hand off!

Was paying £22.50, though the guy on the phone said I was already on a reduced rate from a previous price rise and it should actually be £27.
