Just off the phone with Sky. Gave my notice period at the end of last month as I was receiving the 50% discount for 12 months and was due to be cut off on Friday 2nd August (Sky TV only - full package).
While speaking to them before giving notice they could only knock about £10 off and that's with no movies so just told them to cancel as it was the best they could do after nearly an hour of them "trying" to keep me.
I didn't receive a call or even get any missed call during my cancellation period but I thought I'd be a bit cheeky and decided to ring them up saying I think I had a missed call from them. They checked the system and said they tried to call me 5 days ago?!
Anyway, he said do I still want to listen to the offer and obviously said yes. He came back with 50% off for 12 months except for HD so my payments last year were £32.87 and now it's £38.75 (price increase from Sept and HD included) and no contract so can leave when I want.

Is that HD for Movies/Sports or the other HD channels (entertainment extra+)?
I'm on Entertainment Extra which gives me everything but Box Sets as they said there is no point in me moving to Extra+ since my package is the older and better version.
The HD is for movies, sports and all other HD channels I subscribe to.0 -
Yeah you still have the old HD Pack. Make sure they don't accidentally disable it like they did for me, cos the system doesn't let them reactivate it (apparently).0

My last deal with VM ran out In March ( I was paying £48 and they put this up to £ 59 over night ) When I phoned to get a fresh deal I was only offered a reduction on my phone bill IF I paid up front for a year. I refused !
Then three weeks ago They phoned me to offer me a deal that Included an upgrade from 30 to 60 mg on BB and a TIVO box with free Installation for only an extra £3 on my bill and as I was wanting a TIVO I said yes.
The NICE man came last Saturday and within an hour I was up and running with the new deal, But then I looked in my TV listings mag to find that ESPN is stopping as of 1st Aug.
As this Is the only thing My wife lets me have VM for I phoned there cancelation line to get the whole deal scraped and had a conversation with there chap who told me they'd had loads of calls for the same reason and he told me they were hoping to do a deal with BT sports but It was taking time so would I be happy with a £10 reduction on my bill to compensate for the loss of ESPN ?
I said YES but at the same time could I have the offer that was given me In March to pay up front for the line rent making it £10 Instead of £15 ? He told me he'd do that for me and told me my bill for the next year will be £38 !
I know I've paid up front for the phone but even then I see this as a good deal.:T0 -
BT offered us 35.20 for unlimited BB, phone (unlimited evening and weekend plan), and bt vision a few days ago, I asked the chap to make a note on my account and he agreed. I called back to accept the offer and now they have increased the offer to 36.20 and say there is no sign of the original offer in the notes. What a joke. Said I was leaving to Talk Talk (bluff), the old lady began a ramble about their services; the phone then cut off (my fault).
Do I call back and speak to a manager? I feel hard done by, I would tell them to stick it straight away, however, I am doing this for my grandma and she wont want to start changing providers.

asked exactly why I called up and what it was I wanted!? told him 50% off and HD or entertainment extra+
You were doing so well up to that point....not a chance "these are special offers only availble for limited periods of time only and are one off offers given out once per customer".
Utter, utter lies. What he actually meant was "these are special offers for people we think will actually leave and we want to keep them"
I and many others have had many offers one after the other for years. I am on my third year of 50% off.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
So my contract came to an end in July so I decided to call up VM and told them im thinking of leaving, No offer to keep me at all, they just said 30 days notice is required.
What did I do wrong ? I've been paying 60£ a month and never missed a payment or even had a late payment.
Any tips?0 -
Did you give your notice or just say you were thinking of giving it.
One shows you were serious, the other not.0
