just renewed with virgin:
12month contract
Medium + TV
30MB fibre optic broadband
fee evening & weekend calls
free connection
free 1st month
average cost / mth is £38.91
though this deal was OK, only been a customer for 18 months.
any thoughts?0 -
Sky are really inconsistant, my package with them ceased just over four weeks ago (all we have with them is phone line and broadband) and I've had no calls or letters (I was getting Entertainment Extra at half price, free HD and 1x free multi-room all for one year).
I was presuming that by now I'd have had them make me some sort of offer, but luckily enough none of us are desperately missing their TV service, although the kids would rather have the various kids channels than not have them.0 -
I have been with sky for 3 years with various reductions over the years. I currently have entertainment+, sports, HD, phoneline and broadband with Sky.
just got off the phone to them. And this is the deal i got.
Free Line Rental for 12months
Sky Sports reduced to £5 for 3 months
Multi Room - £5 for 6 months (free install & box)
I was told the other offers available on my account were 10% off for 12 months
I did actually cancel my contract at one point. Which was reversed after further discussions about deals.
Comparisons to what other people have received would be appreciated.0 -
In a way, comparisons to what others have got dont count as its based on spend/package, etc.
If you feel that it is a good deal for you then go for it, if not pass on it.0 -

Did you ever opt out of marketing with them?0 -
I have today made the call to Sky to cancel my account and was immediately offered free line rental for 12 months which is a saving of £174, I am happy with that and took the offer.0

I guess you spoke to a poorly trained advisor, since the 12 months free line rental was withdrawn on 17th May and the £5 sports was withdrawn on 21st May.
You should have only been offered one of the 3 offers you were given.
I expect the advisor will be looking for a new job next week but at least YOU got a good deal!
Unfortunately this is part of the inconsistency between what some are offered and others seem to get.0 -

I was at the end of my 18month contract (+ a few extra out of laziness). I phoned up 3 times in the last 3 weeks to say I was considering leaving and to confirm prices with and without various options. I didn't give my 30 days notice, but I was prepared to yesterday to try and call their bluff
I now have a new 12 month contract:
- TV M+ (chose to downgrade from L)
- Phone XL
- BB 30mb (downgrade from 60)
- cancelled sky sports for the time being, will add back on as needed
- TiVo box (was on the regular V+ box) with free install
- chose to pay £120 for 12 months line rental in advance
Total cost: £22 / mo (well, 32 if you factor in the line rental), fixed for 2 years (or I can try to renegotiate down next year)
Equivalent from BT was about £35 + hassle of new line/ new number/ activation charge/ etc etc so I'm happy with that. Service from Virgin is good; no problems with internet/tv and the phone support is actually ok0 -
Since cancelling Sky I've had a 20% offer in the post. Think I'll hold out for a while longer!0
